1) What do you think is the best way to educate someone? By example, by trial and error, etc? Why?
2) What do you think should be stressed in our education system? Science? Language?
3) If you could change one thing about the US education system, what would it be and why? What would you keep the same?
4) Do animals have rights? If so, what are they and if not, why don't they?
5) Where should we draw the line when it comes to "using" animals? Is using them for fur or medical testing bad? How about for food or entertainment?
6) Why do some people abuse animals? Do you think it would be easier to harm an animal than it would be to harm another human?

1) Do you think it is important for religions to change with society? Why or why not?
2) Which is more important in preserving a certain religion; traditional practices or particular beliefs?
3) Take a look at where one item of your food comes from. How far away was it grown? What was used in its production? Are there things you can't find out about it? Is there anything that could be done to make this item more sustainable or more healthy?
4) What about packaging? What was used to package your food? How do you think it will impact the environment when you throw it out? Was there another choice you could have made when you bought it? What would have been the benefits or hassles associated with that other choice?
5) How should the UN handle "human rights" criminals?

7) Do you think that the United States could one-day face the problems of state controlled media ( some think we already are)? Why? Why not?

1) With the elections drawing nearer, health care is one of the main issues being debated. Look at one proposal and discuss both the drawbacks and merits of the proposal.
2) Why do you think some proposals simply don't work out?
3) Suggest your own proposal to fix the health system in America.
4) One could almost describe war as being a part of Human Nature - it has certainly been around for about the same amount of time. Why, do you think, are humans so ready to go to war with each other?
5) What are some of the most influential wars that have made an impact on society? How have we progressed as a result of some of these wars?
6) Should there be a statute of limitations on crimes? If yes, which crimes, if any, should not be held to that statute? Should it be the same across the board?
7) Should we allow retrial for any reason? Is a retrial the same as double jeopardy, why or why not? Should one be allowed after the statute of limitations has run out?

1) Suicide is an important topic here on ProgressiveU. How do you feel about someone who commits suicide?
2) Why do you think people commit suicide?
3) What can be done to prevent suicide?
4) What are some of the most traumatic Natural Disasters in history? How did civilizations handle them?
5) As a society, are we equippened to handle a natural disaster? Why or why not?
6) Do you believe Manson is responsible for even more homicides than originally charged?
7) Why are serial murders and cult leaders such a source of fascination to the public? Why is the cult mentality such a fascination?
8) Is there a way to prevent such people from gathering a following or is it not up to society or the legal system to decide? Should steps be taken or should it be left alone?

1) People often say that one person cannot make a difference. Write a blog about one person that made a difference, and what is important about them.
2) What can be done to become an 'important person'?
3) Immigration, legal or otherwise, is nothing new. Why has it become such a hot spot for argument over the past few decades? Why was it more tolerable before?
4) How did civilizations in the past handle immigrants? Have we learned from their example?
5) Are public figures (preachers, public servants, police officers, etc) held to higher standards than are regular citizens? If yes, do you agree with it? If no, should they be?
6) Is it possible to reduce the number of public figures charged with corruption or related crimes? How do we go about doing so?
