Facebook is life for a college student

Facebook seems to be the new craze. It amazes me how websites such as these are so popular and how they make it so easy to stay in touch. However, you’re only going to remain close to the ones that you want. Some people abuse Facebook and you get the random people messaging you. I wonder if I would ever continue talking to people had it not been for Facebook. It tells you when everyone’s birthday is so you never forget. Now there’s no excuse. It kind of takes away from the ones that care who will remember your birthday no matter what.

Every so often there seems to be a new site coming out. Now there’s Facebook and myspace. Before that there was Friendster and my friends from other countries all have other ones. How is it that different regions of the world use different methods of communication? For example, everyone uses MSN but only people from America use AIM. I guess it’s a cultural thing.

I tend to agree that the websites such as Facebook and MySpace take all the fun and flair out of remembering someone's birthday, for example. However, I still use them. I love how easy it is to see what my friends are up to (the ones that update their blogs/sites anyway) when we are not able to stay in touch so easily due to long distance friendships. Plus, I recently made a friend in the UK via MySpace! :o)

And, when it comes to instant messengers, I try not to discriminate. :o) I use AIM, Yahoo, and MSNmessenger all depending on whom I'm talking to.

A lot of my friends don't like to talk on the phone anymore either - or are too busy. I personally love the text message option on my phone - it adds a little fun to normal day lows. But then again, I'm easily amused.

But overall, I believe it is up to people to be better friends than Facebook or MySpace provides such as when it comes to birthdays. Getting an actual birthday card, phone call, or gift is a really great way to show your closest friends that you haven't forgotten your appreciation for them. :o)

I actually put a diffrent birthday on my myspace that what my birthday really is. Its suprising how few people notice but still wish me happy birthday on my fake birthday.

haha....that's a good way of seeing who's your real friend and who's not.

The core idea of facebook is to connect students with their peers, and I think it's a whole lot better than MySpace. Plus, its not exactly a new craze it's only a public craze now. When it got started in 2004, it was exclusively college students. Now with the expansion of high school facebook, it's a growing MySpace-like trend.

If anything, I think it's a lot safer than MySpace.

Definitely a lot more safe because there are a lot more restrictions that you can choose. Plus the amount of things you can do to it is a lot less so it doesn't slow down the page like crazy. And it makes it more sophisticated.

I wonder why most Americans only use AiM? It's funny how people will communicate on the same medium (the computer) in such a variety of ways. How many do there need to be?
