ProU allows harassment and bullying on their site. They even make it easier with the “track” feature that they leave open for other users to use. It would be one thing to have this feature just for the user themselves to track themselves but instead they leave it out for the public to use. It is there for cyber stalkers to stalk their prey and pick on them in a means of slander and any other way their twisted minds work. They also do not do anything about this. Their way of “fixing” this problem is deleting the problem comments and blogs. But this will not fix it from future upcoming harassment. I believe they are just doing this to save their ass later on. No proof no case.
Now everyone downs Myspace because of all the things that happen with it but at least the user can prevent this. The user can block people that are harassing and Myspace also does take steps to prevent harassment. You can make your profile private in which no one can see your information unless if they are friends. The only reason Myspace is so big in the news is because of the users being stupid with their personal information not Myspace. ProU on the other hand you are attacked no matter what. There is no refuge or “block” feature. You can not talk to the ProU team because they will ignore you.
I have also had more educated debates on Myspace. The people on Myspace are not half as immature as the people on ProU. There is no name calling, and we all express our thoughts. If it offends us we blow it off because we know that it is not meant to offend us. But I guess you won’t have this on a liberal site. Even if you talk about a group (lets say Christians) you’ll have Christian people running their mouth. NEWSFLASH: if you are a Christian and not a hypocrite then I am not talking about you then now am I?
It is one thing to explain that there are Christians out there that are not hypocrites but it is another to run your mouth about how you are not. Doing so will just make yourself look like a hypocrite even if you are not. People that try to make themselves look good are usually not good at all.
But back to the subject. I believe Myspace is by far more progressive then ProgressiveU. Which this is quite hilarious in my eyes. It is not only the user’s fault but the ProU team also. For a site that claims to be progressive they are the opposite of progressive. If ProgressiveU were evolution we all would be monkeys by the end of the week!

I agree that a "block" feature and even an edit feature for comments would be helpful given the amount of useless namecalling and bickering that goes on here sometimes (I'm about waist-deep in trolls at the moment myself). Granted, I call attention to myself as far as evolution goes so I won't pretend I'm being picked on, but there is a high level of immaturity on here that is completely useless being that no one backs up their opinions and just takes the stance of "I'm right, you're wrong."

Good for you. I sure wish the blogger would learn something from you and drop the victim act.
If you do it I will. You act like your little miss I can do nothing wrong girl but in reality you are just a drama queen.
I also love the little touch of the low blow on my blog. For some reason you just can't help but to attack me on every blog I write. Hell this blog isn't even about you and you still attack me.
SO maybe my victim act is not an act but reality. Say I am wrong? Well this comment you just posted proved it.
So like I said before either walk out into on coming traffic or keep your immature, rude, ignorant, and stupid comments to yourself.

Let's see, the redneck team first started trolling on my blogs after my attempt to get a fact straight failed. when I asked you to do this over PM, you maturely said I was scared of "showing my true self" in public. When I let the trolling go, you went smug and proudly said you "don't give up." When I finally retaliated, you're suddenly the victims of this sad, unfortunate "harassment."
As if it wasn't enough, the redneck team so far has posted about seven blogs showing me in a negative light. Three of them were/are specifically about me. I went from a harmless, anonymous user on ProgU to someone fairly (in)famous because of you! You called me a "fag" in a thread you created solely to bring me down, and somehow you neglected to mention that part when you announced (for at least seven times now) that I said something about your little birdie, claiming this is "sexual harassment" (over the Internet, too!).
You also created an alternate account trying to get me to say I hate rednecks (which I don't--I just hate idiots). When that failed, you posted one of my "private" message and made a half-assed attempt to show what a terrible person I am for picking a fight with another redneck! (Dude, I don't even know why you picked that message; the one before it would be a lot more effective if you were trying to gain support.)
Why, I believe I'm the victim here!
By the way, I love the way you made it sound like people dislike you because you're a conservative, not because you're an idiot who can't have a civil, mature debate for a change. Way to make a victim of yourself here.
"Harmless, anonymous user" my ass. You brought this on yourself. And if you were so innocent you would have dropped it all a long time ago. You are just a drama queen. Most likly the blonde head whorish cheerleader who has to be in everyones business.
For the hundredth time, it was GOOSEFAG. Look up the word it does not exist dumbass. There I called you a dumbass now bring that up. It was your choice to choose a seperate word out of a totally different word. And to be politically correct, like you always claim and I have already said this again, a fag is a ciggarrete. Not a homosexual.
And if you are so much of a victim why do you pick out ever blog I write and write an offensive comment attacking me for. Just like this blog itself. You start shit everytime I make a move on this site. Then you claim innocense. Everyone can see you are a dumbass.
And for the hundredth time on this I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT when it comes to that other guy. Just because two people share common intrest and seem to believe you are a dumbass does not make it the same person. Trust me there are plenty of other people that believe this too. Just open your eyes and you will see it.
God and you call me stupid. I feel like I talk to the wall when I talk to you. Everything in this damn comment I have told you numerous times. But I guess when you are thick headed it takes a jackhammer to get it through your head and to your tiny almost non existant brain.

True EvoGeek, but then where would the heated debate come from? It really isn't that fun if someone blocks user's of the opposite mind set. And the ability to delete comments that are conflicting with one's own opinions. You are right with the baseless name-calling and incessant carping. However, without it, I think that this place would be half as popular as it is today. Really, are you going to post if you know the person will remove it because you disagree? Being able to express and not have the fear of being ruled-out is a good thing.

There is a difference between heated debates and blunt name calling and slandering. You can ignore slandering and name calling for a while but after a while you have to oppose it with the same. But with a "block" feature you could easily stop it in a matter of seconds.
Anyone that is mature can handle an opposing mind as long as they have at least some form of knowledgable or factual base to it. But name calling is rather annoying.

I'm all for debate Homki, and you're right in that some people would probably misuse blocking just as they misuse commenting (just in the opposite direction), but sometimes rude and salacious commenters can really take away from a thread or harass, so it would be nice to at least have some level of control (didn't ProgressiveU even put out a post a month or so ago about rude remarks bringing down the sites image?)
There are pros and cons to both sides, but some level of control is good, and if someone feels strongly enough about a topic they can write their own post about it and track back to the original blog, which I think might even be more constructive in the end and that way no one else could delete it. Still, I imagine that no amount of safegaurds or controls would do away with some of the mean-spiritedness and immaturity on here (I have to admit I'm not always beyond reproach myself) and that isn't something that's likely to change, unfortunately.

Myspace definately is better. EXTREMELY better.
And in most senses--it is safer. The ability to block users is extremely helpful, unlike this site that pretty much allows stalking.
You want to be able to block others from commenting on your stuff if they have abused in the past.
An interesting idea, but Homki has an important point - you block the people who say things you don't like, you lose out on the possibility for some debate on your ideas. Did you just want to spew them out with no response? Want to change our views without us influencing yours?
Then go to MySpace.
This site is about debate (or money - I forget? pretend this isn't here), and if you are able to censor anyone you want that isn't ensured. Meaning:
You have to give up the right to talk with only your friends, and deal with some abuse, in order to preserve free intercourse of ideas. Learn to deal with it now, because if you want to publically have ideas ANYWHERE in this free-speech country, you will have to deal with hecklers. Sad but true.
Sticks and stones, my dear, are preferrable to censorship.

Oh, also: does anybody know the name of the song that plays during the dogfight scene of Cowboy Bebop, The Movie?
If so, please let me know @ gatorrelay251@gmail.com
Best movie EVER. Maybe. Definitely best Anime to hit the U.S.
It is not "blocking people we don't like," it is blocking people that cannot handle mature conversations, people that refuse to stop name calling and stop stalking.
There are plenty of people on this site that I have butted heads with that I would not block, in all honesty-there is probably only about 5 people that I WOULD block at this point and time, and all of those people have continuously harrassed me, following me from blog to blog.
The block feature, if used by the right people the right way, would not be for getting rid of people I don't like-it would be so that I would quit getting shit from people who only make their lives on this site following me around shit slinging.
Will you two just grow up and stop it? I am really getting sick of going into blogs that start out as decent, but turn into a catfight because of the both of you. Neither one of you can let ANYTHING go, and I for one am really getting sick of hearing about it. It's okay to express your ideas. Its not okay to rip on another person ideas, which you are both guilty of. You get all upset over comments that aren't really upsetting. BOTH OF YOU. I suggest that for a little while, you don't respond to each other AT ALL. No matter how angry the other person makes you feel, just take a deep breath and let it go. AND DON'T WRITE A BLOG ABOUT IT PLEASE. IT ONLY MAKES THINGS WORSE, which I am sure you are BOTH well aware of. I used to like this site...until I kept coming into blogs and reading about your fight. Either handle it over private messages, or just let it go. Sure there are occasional blogs which have no progressive value whatsoever, but it is much worse when there is a progressive blog, and the two of you come in and go on and on and on and on and on and on...about how much you hate each other. We get it, okay? I for one am sick of hearing it. KNOCK IT OFF.

I can't help it that she attacks me like a wild cat everytme I make a move on this site. Then she attacks me for explaining it to people claiming it is a "victim act." SO until you shut the cat woman up I am going to defend myself.

You both need to just chill. You both claim to be the victim, so wouldn't it be much easier just to be the bigger person and stop this madness? Your hatred of each other is ruining both of your blogs. JUST STOP!!!
"Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your consent"--Eleanor Roosevelt
Well it is kind of hard when we have people like you keep on brining it up. Hell I havn't even talked to everProgressive or anyone else for days not but yet I still get as many people saying comments like this one.
How about yall drop it first and then I will work on it.
