There are many different forms of service-learning, but we like to look at it this way: a good service learning project should combine service (doing something for others in the community) with learning (learning new skills, job options, or just self-reflection).
In the case of Progressive U, we are trying to change how the media works. Media needs to become more interactive, and more responsive to what people in the community (especially young people) are interested in.
That's where you come in. Just by participating on this site, you are providing a service to the community. Your thoughts are important, and by sharing them with rest of the world you become part of the media.
The learning side of the equation becomes more obvious once you start blogging and commenting on other blog posts. You will learn how to express yourself more effectively. You will learn more about what is important to others, and what their points of view are on various issues.
