The Doctor of Death, the suicide and not a low cost funeral guy announced he was running for Congress. Suicide Assisted or otherwise does not bring about a Lower Cost Funeral.
Jack Kevorkian, The assisted suicide guy, advances death not life. After 8 years in prison he came out and wants to run for Congress! (According to Fox News) Now it is quite evident that many politicians are criminals but criminal first then Congress? RestinPeace is against
assisted suicide. Here is why.
Suicide gives survivors often no money for a funeral. Suicide is an exclusion on most life insurance policies. In other words if you commit suicide you not only give your loved ones grief, it often leaves your family with no way to pay for your funeral. Suicide assisted or unassisted is not good for the family that survives.
Coroners and Medical Examiners are often reluctant to put suicide on death certificates. Families simply do not get the life insurance money when the death certificate says suicide.
What often happens is that accidental death goes on death certificates rather than suicide. This simply allows the family to have money for funeral cost.
if you are considering suicide please reconsider. It is not a life option. Suicide causes much grief. It is never helpful. All this information comes from the life experience of rest in peace, your funeral guy as well as the sources given.
What is your opinion, should assisted suicide or Euthanasia be legal? What do you think?

I agree with you. I think that suicide is a completely selfish act. Sure, it's a way to end all of your pain, but what about the people who know and love you? People considering suicide aren't truly thinking of their family and friends.
As for assisted suicide, it should depend on the circumstances. People shoot animals to keep them from suffering, why should humans have to suffer through a terminal illness if they are not experiencing any quality of life whatsoever?
Usually, when people are considering suicide or actually commit suicide, they are beyond thinking logically. They aren't thinking about those that they love because they are so overwhelmed with everything else that's going on in their minds.
They are not themselves anymore. I don't think they're being selfish at all.

but the good thing is flashes of sanity often occur.
I lost my older sister to suicide in 1999, when I was 6 years old.Thank you for explaining that my sister is not a selfish person. While she was alive, she did many acts of compassion such as running for breast cancer research, feeding the homeless, and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.
I am following her acts of compassion and in her memory, I am walking and volunteering with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to help raise money and awareness. I definitely don't want anybody else to go through what my family and I have gone through. If I can just prevent this from happening to one person, I will be very happy.
Please visit my profile http://afsp.donordrive.com/participant/Loren to read about AFSP and donate if you wish. Any amount of money would be greatly appreciated. I know these economic times are hard, I understand and I don't want you to feel like you have to be overly generous. Anything that you feel comfortable donating, would be a wonderful gesture and a very meaningful initiative. I also would appreciate it if you would pass the link on to your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers etc. Thank you very much for your support!
What you people fail to realize is the folks that Dr. Kevorkian assisted in killing themselves were terminally ill and had no joy in life. What are they going to do, sit around and wait to die? I saw his interview on Fox News and he is incredibly intelligent. He said that he assists those that have no love in their life, no happiness. I believe he is correct in saying that the downs of life are far more numerous than the ups. Sow hat the hell, if i have cancer at the age of 60 and have no family and friends, whats wrong with someone helping me off myself? Probably do the world a favor.
Thinking too much about life can drive a person crazy...
Physician Assisted Suicide is not the red scare that most people make it out to be. If I were terminally ill, and my life was one of agony and pain I would much rather have the option to be assisted. Who is more selfish the person that wants their loved one to live a life of pain or agony or the person that wants cease the pain and torment of terminal illness.
The people who reach out for help are the ones that are less likely to actually commit suicide. The people who are most likely to commit suicide are the ones that do not reach out for help.
Examine the roots of suicide and what drives people to suicide. The rate that gay teens commit suicide is due to a lack of acceptance, and I think that is what most people who commit suicide feels is a lack of acceptance, a lack of understanding, a lack of compassion.
Having suicide prevention hotlines are great, and I think it is a great effort, but I think in addition that the effort has to be to attack the cause. Be proactive to prevent the cause in addition to the suicide hotlines is what is best.
Promote tolerance, work to curtail bullying, an actively work to promote acceptance. Work actively to stop the us against them mentality.
Petition big phrama and others to develop better medication where one of the possible side effects is "this may increase suicidal thoughts." More importance is needed not on the quick fix pill solution, but fixing the root causes.
Take away the stigma of what is to be afflicted with mental illness and having to see a therapist, psychiatrist, and psychotropic medication. Petition the insurance companies to make mental health treatment a priority not a second thought.
I totally agree with you. I am doing my part to prevent suicide. I am part of a club that was trained by the AntiDefamation League on running workshops o promote tolerance and diversity.
I also volunteer with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I am currently working to raise money for them. AFSP works to spread awareness, education and to to fund research. If you would like to learn about my motivation for doing this, please click the link below. If you encourage my efforts, please pass the link on to family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers and so on. If anybody wishes to contribute any money for suicide prevention, it can be done via the internet. The link below will walk you through the easy, 100% tax deductible process.

Thank You for you efforts. I have been advocate for the rights of those who are mentally ill for quite sometime. I will share part of my story to show why I am so intense about this issue.
Shortly after I was brutalised by a homophobic attack I had a nervous breakdown. I ended up in a Psychiatric Hospital. It was a surreal world. I thought a the movie "Girl Interrupted" was dramatised by Hollywood, but I soon realised they did not take creative liberties when making the film.
I remember setting in a day room in a locked ward when a middled age woman and her husband came in to the ward. Her mother asked her why she was here. The daughter looked at her and with a cruel smile said because you are psychotic Mama.
The elderly woman quickly changed the subject, but her eyes said what words never could.
I remember after my last suicide attempt after having been in a Coma for the last week my father said, "You are going to hell," and I did not say a word. I do not know what my eyes said, but I am sure it was much like the elderly woman I had met two years before hand.
To end this post I am going to offer this quote:
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
Margaret Mead
No truer words have ever been spoken
You can be very helpful in changing the stigma surrounding suicide because you have been on the other end of the equation. What exactly is a homophobic attack? I hope that things are looking up for you. Keep on supporting the cause!
I guess the term gay bashing is more accepted. They thought because I was gay that it was cool to call me vile names, they thought it was cool to beat up, and some other stuff. I am not going to go into the details because the devil in the details here still eats me alive.
Oh ok, for whatever reason the way you originally worded it or something didn't make me think that you were the victim. Thank you for clarifying. I am so sorry that happened to you. People are just really ignorant and intolerant. And the worst part is that they don't see anything wrong with being that way and some are even proud of it!

Life can bring crazy things and people our way. Sometimes it may be hard to cope and take time to understand what is going on. Those who attempt suicide and those who succeed in the act should never be judged.
I appreciate your understanding of the situation. I wish more people understood without having to personally experience it.
