Doesn't it bother you when politicians use smear campaigns? They tend to stop getting their point across, and start working on making their opponent look bad.
But who really looks bad?
Hillary Clinton is an expert in smear campaigns. I'm not saying she isn't a formidable opponent, and I'm certainly not saying that Obama or McCain are angels, but Hillary takes the cake. If the phone in the White House rings in the middle of the night...I'm just hoping that someone will actually WAKE UP to answer it.
When people get mad, they tend to attack the people closest to them, the people who pose the largest risk to them. So is Hillary admitting she is scared by attacking Obama?
Before Mitt Romney dropped out of the race, and before McCain became the Republican Nominee, we saw a plethora of smear campaigns coming from both of them. But think back. Did anyone actually say to themselves while watching those commercials, "Wow, that Mitt Romney is very respectable, telling me McCain is a liar. I think I'll vote for him"?? I know that I didn't.
I guess I may seem naive to think that politicians would ever be completely honest with the public. But they are the people who will be in charge, they shouldn't hide the truth from us, and they certainly shouldn't fabricate things to make themselves look better. After all, if an economist said that the country's economy was flourishing, no one would believe them. If a sports announcer said that the Mets won the last ten world series, we would laugh at how ridiculous they were being. So when a politician blatantly lies, why does he/she think that we will believe them?

I'm glad that someone else brought up this topic. My biggest problem with it is that Obama has tried to avoid stooping as low as Hilary, but it seems he's having trouble keeping support because no one is pulling out Hilary's worst traits. I've seen some of the media do that lately and I'm glad, it's a little disappointing that politicians feel the need to stoop so low.
