Hi. This is my first blog here, so I thought it would be appropriate to introduce myself. My name is Tamesha and I am a SENIOR at Westover High School in Albany, GA. I can't remember how I discovered this site, but it looked pretty cool, so I joined. However, after reading some of the posts about the Utah rave party, I was a little disturbed. It was my understanding that this site was to be about discussing issues about rights and progress, but many people were using the posts to only tell their side, then personally attack anyone with differing views. I've been on the debate team for four years, and one of the most important things I've learned is to respect other people's opinions and always listen to the other side. After all, how can you argue if you don't even know who you're arguing against?
Everything I post will share my opinions as effectively as I can without degrading other people. The biggest part of free speech is that anyone should be able to say what they think, whether we agree with them or not. And please don't think I'm being critical of any one person who posted about the Utah raid. Maybe they felt passionately about it and just posted in the heat of the moment, I don't know. But personally, I'm going to "walk the walk" and be committed to free speech, so they can say whatever they want to say. All I'm saying is that my posts will be straightforward, rational, and respectful to other viewpoints.
Anyway, some of my favorite topics are the Bush administration, politics in general, abortion, freedom of speech, how Hollywood affects society, and just teen issues in general. If anybody wants to talk, my aim is musiqprincess06. Until next time, peace, love, and Apple Jacks.

Tamesha,
Welcome! I can already tell you will be a great blogger, especially for this site -- you have the perfect attitude.
Regarding the Utah rave comments, you are right; some people definitely got a little emotional. Several of us have been discussing whether comments should be more heavily moderated, and we haven't come to a conclusion yet. While we believe very strongly in free speech, there were some comments on a different post recently that crossed the line, and we had to turn comment moderation on. We'll appreciate your input on that as we go forward.
So, welcome again, and I look forward to you your future posts!
Boycott UTAH!!
These fundamentalist extremists in Utah like collective punishment? Give it to 'em:
Boycott everything from Utah!
If we got all Blue state companies to stop buying ANYTHING from Utah, that state's polygamous economy would shut down by next year.
Screw 'em in the only place they feel: their wallets.
This California company just cancelled a Utah printing job.
Keep the boycott alive until the locals pressure their jerk police chief to apologize on national television and/or resign. NO LESS WILL SUFFICE.
Hmmm....the abortion debate. That one seems to be a favourite among everybody. Which side are you on?
