Tom Cruise soaked by pranksters while promoting 'War of the Worlds'

Four members of a filmcrew have been arrested on suspicion of assault after squirting water at movie star Tom Cruise at the
London premiere of War of the Worlds on Sunday evening.

The crew were freelancers filming a new comedy show for Channel 4. Channel 4 has no production facilities itself; all
television programmes are commissioned from independant companies.

Cruise had been on a walkabout meeting and greeting fans, and was being interviewed by the crew under the impression that it
was a serious interview, when they used a fake microphone to squirt him in the face.

Cruise remained calm throughout. He took hold of the culprit, asking him why he did it.

"Why would you do that? What's so funny about that? It's ridiculous. Do you like making less of people?"

As the prankster began to flee, Cruise said, "Don't run away. That's incredibly rude. I'm here giving you an interview, answering your questions and you do something nasty. You're a jerk."

Security guards then took the filmcrew away, before they were arrested and bailed by the police. The crew face further
questioning by officers today.

Scotland Yard have said, "We will see whether to pursue the charges, see whether the victim wants to pursue it."

Tom Cruise resumed meeting fans and signing autographs, spending an hour Leciester Square.

I've heard some people say that Tom Cruise is too egotistical, or that he seems to be acting during interviews and is not "down-to-earth" enough. I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt, especially given his fairly level-headed reaction to these pranksters.

Take a look at the post on War of the Worlds -- he seems to be genuinely concerned about families and our reaction to crises. Almost makes me want to see the movie.

Summing up Spielberg’s War of the Worlds

German media has complained that they can’t see War of the Worlds to review it.
So Steven Spielberg won’t let the press review his film before opening day?
So what?
Anyone who has followed my pages over the last half year knows more about what the film will be like than the average viewer.
But since no other pre-view will be done in the world, I’ll just sum up what I know as an exclusive review of the movie.

Wow. Looks like you are one of the worlds leading experts on Spielberg's War of the Worlds.

But after reading your review, I'm no longer sure I'll put it on my personal must-see list. Sounds like the story is: 'hero is a jerk with his family, but struggling through a crisis helps him learn how to care about family relationships.'

Is that it? Is there no bigger message: about society, and the crazy things a climate of fear can make us do?

I'm glad you liked the review. There is always a larger social message in a spielberg film.
As far as world's leading expert in Spielberg, you can largely forget that. I know very little, but I'm trying to learn.

I acutally saw that video of this. Thought it was fairly funny.
