I am defintely frustrated by the "No Child Left Behind Act". I feel like I am trying really hard to get the exact same thing as the kids who are putting little or not effort into classes. I do realize, however, that I am going to have a better future, in the long run, by putting extra effort in. It's certainly easy to throw your hands up and quit trying. Sure, I could get C's and D's and have my parents be proud of me for "not failing", but I want something better for myself. I want to become a Psychologist, and I won't be able to accomplish my goals if I give up.
I do get really angry, that these kids don't even try, all they talk about is drinking, and drugs and all the "fun" they had skipping school. It makes me SO mad to hear these kids not care!!! I am esspecially mad because I am very aware that when these kids have bad jobs, and a family, they won't make enough money to support their family, and I will probably end up paying for their welfare. Now don't get me wrong, I am all for welfare, for those who need it. I totally understand if you've lost your job, or a family member died, or something has happened in your family that has caused loss of income, but it isn't fair for the people who work hard to pay for the people who slack off their entire lives.
I hate the fact that some people live their entire lives on welfare, and continue to have children that they don't care about, and can't afford, simply because they can! At some point in my life, I want there to be regulations that will make it much harder to be on welfare. Welfare should be a short term help, not a lifetime support system!!!
I hope there are others that agree with me, because sometimes I feel like I am one of the only ones that care about this sort of thing! it's very frustrating to be a high school senior that doesn't care about how to wear my hair, or anything superficial like that.
Thanks for reading this, and please excuse any spelling/grammatical errors.

I agree with you on several different things that you have said, but before you judge the kids who just care about "drinking" and "Skipping school" maybe you should put yourself in their shoes. I mean what grounds gives you the right to judge them? Second, I thought the No Child Left Behind Act was more of a financial thing and less about the attitudes of the students. I could be wrong. Just because "some" of the kids don't care, doesn't mean the school shouldn't be given the proper aid to give their students the best opportunities. Thats just me.
I agree that welfare should only be short term and should be used to help people get back on track and not to be used as a lifelong thing. There's so many people in my town who have lived on welfare for at least 5 years or more. It's not helping them it's hurting them.
