I know all of you have probably already read billions on stem cell research, the thing is that this topic really entreagues me....

Stem cell research is the process of taking duh stem cells from an unborn embryo, or born embryo.  These cells can be used for many things.  One of the major uses is to reconstruct dead or dying cells.  The bad thing about the process, is that the embryo may die in the process, or the embryo actually does die.

There are different type of stem cells. There are actually three to be exact.  There are adult stem cells, pure stem cells, and well embryo stem cells.  The difference is that the actual adult stem cell can be found in well, adults.  Though it is a misconseption to think that we do not have them, they area extremely hard to find.  These cells already have some type of nutrient that makes them extremely restricted as to what they can be used for.  For this matter you really can't rely on them.  Then we have the pure stem cell. This is where we hit the jack pot.  This cell can be used for pretty much any type of cell reconstruction you can think of.  Though it will be needed in mass amount, it is extremely valuable.  Controversy is mostly on this cell.  The fact is, this cell is an actual embryo.  During the process a women becomes pregnant, the cells inside her start to divide exopentially.  That division is what makes the stem cells.  In order to obtain these cells the embryo must.. well.. die..

You say there are three types of stem cells, and then explain that two are the same thing.

Though it is a misconseption to think that we do not have them, they area extremely hard to find. These cells already have some type of nutrient that makes them extremely restricted as to what they can be used for. For this matter you really can't rely on them.

Bone marrow is adult stem cells. And that is used rather successfully in helping leukemia patients. In fact, adult stem cells have been more useful in treating diseases than any embryonic stem cell. I just wish I could find the article that I read that in.

I'll be posting a blog on stem cells when I get some time (so... Saturday, at the earliest). I encourage you to continue your research on the subject.

I am writing one of my finals about what people know about stem cell research, so I'm really interested in what you (and others writing on the subject) come up with.

I am using this blog as a primary resource for my research, in addition to interviews with my family and some of their colleagues in the medical and professional community.

If I can find a way to fit it in, may I cite this post and any subsequent stem cell-related posts you make before May 15?

I plan to post the final (or at least excerpts, since it's going to be 10-20 pages) afterwards, so you are certainly welcome to read how you fit in.

I really don't mind if you use this blog for siteing it in your paper, as a matter of fact I'm flattered :D...
On the other hand on the comment before that... I realldy had not heard about that!!! Thats actually quite interesting.. I don't agree with that fully though. The bone marrow might have the stem cells, but it does not have the capability that embryonic stem cells do. I do belive though that the bone marrow stem cells are good, but they are used because there is not much of "political" or "religious" even "moral" issue to regard to them. If they are just cells found in adults, people will allow for them to be used for reaserch since they can get consent. On the other hand I will speak about the political and religious issue in part two!!! (I should be able to have the reaserch done by next week.. lol srry)

Its not my job to kill you....

The stem cells in bone marrow have the capacity to become any sort of blood cell in the body. That's a pretty big potential. Again, I wish I could find the article that gave some more examples, but that's just the one I remember right off hand. Still, though, embryonic stem cells have only recently been able to be useful (I'll include that article in my blog... I'm still doing research), whereas adult stem cells have been used for quite some time.
