Terrorism a difficult concept to understand?

Tagged:

Seems to be. Clearly, people seem to think that terrorism is just going to vanish. If we just let the terrorists do their own thing, they'll say, "Hey, what we're doing is wrong, and killing innocent people is not a good thing." Ladies and gentlemen, this is not a perfect world. No matter how much you wish it to be, it's not. Terrorism will not end until people stand up and say, "This is wrong." Obviously the terrorists think they're doing is right - does that mean we should let them continue their evil ways? (And yes, terrorist actions are evil - there's no other way to put it.)

Now, let's talk about negociations/diplomacies. If two people representing democracy sat down with two people representing terrorism, what exactly do you think would happen? The two terrorists would change their minds and then try and convince their friends that they should stop killing? Absolutely not. They might even try to kill the other two guys for being "infidels." Who knows.

Now, don't get me wrong - I'm all for peace. I wish that everyone could get along, really, I do. But it won't happen. Keep dreaming, Miss America.

So what do we do if negociations don't work and if people can't get along? Is there another alternative?

You answer that one yourself.

The United States doesn't negotiate with Terrorists, and because of this, it seems to me that the answer is not to stay the course, but rather begin negotiations with Terrorists. If they kill one negotiator of ours, we kill 2 of theirs. This way there will be a perceived value to the negotiations. Hopefully, it'll happen, but I doubt it.
