I am SO mad! Most young Christians, like myself, today wonder why most gays and lesbians think God doesn't love them. THIS IS SO STUPID! Wanna know why they think that? It's because a select few Christians, who happen to hold power, make them feel that way! like this man here:
"During the era of segregation, based on his reading of the Bible, Falwell did not let African-Americans into his church. He once called the civil rights movement the "civil wrongs movement." Today, Falwell won't let gay and lesbian people come to his school, and he was recently quoted as saying that if Liberty ever embraced gay and lesbian equality it should be "burned to the ground." "
I'm Christian, I want to go into ministry, does that mean I'm going to preach that there is something wrong with Gay and Lesbians? NO! I have my own beliefs and they have theirs. If someone who declares themselves gay or lesbian comes to me for spiritual help, will i turn them away? NO! will i focus on their sexuality as the base of their problem? NO! God says Love Thy Neighbor as Thy Self. He DOES NOT SAY, Love Thy Straight Neighbor as Thy Self. Some pastors and religious teachers may think i am being young and stupid as to this matter, but I know how I feel and I know that what they are doing is wrong.
There is this orginization (the one the quote above comes from) coming to my school (Eastern University) to talk about these issues. And how at many colleges (such as Liberty where Falwell, the above "Christian" is the head) will expell a person for declaring themselves gay or lesbian. The group targets Christian colleges for their policies on the situation. While Eastern is a liberal school and really doesnt have policies that would treat them differently (in coming to this school you agree not to have relations: gay or straight) I think we are still an important stop on their tour, even though I have a feeling Eastern is only allowing them on campus to prevent bad media coverage. They need to know that every Christian is not out to get them. I think this is a GREAT start and will be a GREAT learning experience for both parties.
To the people in the Equality Ride: Stay Strong, My prayers are with you! It takes so much courage to do what your doing.
To anyone who disagrees: sure post ur comments, if they are rude and degrading i'll remove them, if you think i am being dumb and going against the Bible, then you don't know the Bible very well.

Great Comments, and very well focused response to the people that are giving Christianity a dirty name.
I don't think you are being dumb, but I don't think you can compare Race with sexual preference. You can not choose who your parents are but you can choose to be obedient to them or not. I think that is where the issue lies. Yes I believe that most Christians treat the issue incorrectly by singleing out homosexuals, rather than hating the sin they hat the sinner, well that is wrong. But sex between anyone but a husband and wife is a deviation from God's creation. Unless you can show me other wise it is still a sin just like stealing, coveting, murder, disobeying your mother and father, etc...
Where we are going, we don't need roads.
Pazz, you are saying that homosexuality is a Choice? So That means that you are equally attracted to both men and woment since you CHOSE to be heterosexual. Well, just because you were born Bisexual, doesn't mean everyone was.
Isn't eating Shellfish and working on Sunday a sin also? What are you saying about Sunday Football games?
I wasn't speaking on race. I was just trying to make a point about a highly respected Christian leader who has said hurtfull and UN-Christian like things in the past. I am also not saying that being homosexual is not a sin...I think that people have their own views on sins. I am just simply saying that they should not be treated like they are less of a person by the Christian Community. Even though most of this generations community are more open to different things then the older generations. I was just voicing my opinion on why it shouldn't be necessary to kick a homosexual or bisexual out of a Christian University simply because they are gay or bi. That's not the Christian message.NSZ
Here is what I am saying, we were created, born if you will, with certain biological distinctives. Sex being the way we reproduce, the fact that it is also pleasurable is a huge plus. Now we fit together a certain way, and for the purpose of reproduction that way can only be accomplished with a human male and female. if you tell me you were born gay that is the most ignorant statement I can imagine. Yes I believe some people might think they are and it might not seem like a choice, but it still is. You can't choose to be a male or female at birth, or what color your skin is, etc. To say you are homosexual by birth is to say, if you are white with blue eyes and blonde hair, that you are actually black, with brown eyes and black hair. Well, you can choose to call yourslef that, and even go so far as to surgicaly alter yourself, and even beyond that to think you were born that way. But that would be foolish.
I don't agree that homosexuals should be kicked out of the church, just as I wouldn't agree that liars or adulterers should be. Now they shouldnt tell them it is ok to continue in the sin, but that they do continue is going to be a struggle, and for some it may always be.
As far as shelfish and sunday go.
Shelfish is a Jewish Old testament law, in the new testament Jesus told Peter to kill and eat, reffering to foods that were previously prohibited. On one hand that was also used to show that all people could recieve the gospel, previously gentiles were considered unlcean.
Sunday is the day Jesus was resurected, and the day the early church met each week. Jesus said all days should be considered holy. While Moses brought the law to show us our sin, Jesus brought Grace and truth.
