I HAVE BEEN LIVING IN A SMALL TOWN NAMED CASTLE ROCK, COLORADO FOR 5-6 MONTHS NOW AND I AM SO ALONE HERE. MY FAMILY , MOTHER AND I, ARE THE ONLY BLACK FAMILY LIVING IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN SEATTLE, WASHINGTON. THERE IS A PLETHORA OF DIFFERENT HUED PEOPLE AND ETHNICITIES GALORE. WHEN I CAME DOWN HERE I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE ONLY WHITES AND MEXICANS LIVING HERE. THE WHITE PEOPLE DOWN HERE ARE RACIST AND HATEFUL TOWARDS ME. ON THE 5TH OF JULY I WAS OUTSIDE AND A CAR DROVE UP AND THREW CHERRY BOMBS AND OTHER FIREWORKS AT ME AND YELLED "NIGGAR, NIGGAR" AND THE NEXT DAY ANOTHER CAR WITH PEOPLE DROVE BY AND THREW GLASS BOTTLES AND ROCKS AT ME. I HAVE NEVER BE SUBJECTED TO THIS KIND OF TREATMENT BEFORE. I WAS SO UPSET THAT I DIDNT KNOW HOW I FELT. I AM SURROUNDED BY A SEA OF ONLOOKERS. PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS STARING AT ME, AND ASKING ME QUESTIONS ABOUT RAP AND GANGS, LIKE I WOULD KNOW SINCE I AM BLACK. I HAVE BEEN INGORING THIS FOR A WHILE NOW AND I AM JUST SICK OF IT. I SONT HAVE ANYONE WHO I CAN RELATE TO DOWN HERE AND I FEEL THAT I AM ALL ALONE. I NEVER IN MY WILDEST DREAMS WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT PEOPLE COULD STILL HATE AND REJECT THE UNFAMILIAR.

hey, just a small comment about internet etiquette:
typing in ALL CAPS is the online equivalent of shouting, so anyone reading your post will pretty much go away from it feeling like you just yelled in their face (if they bother reading it at all)...i don't think anyone likes feeling like that.
you don't need to type in all caps to get attention; in fact, more people will probably read what you write if it's not in all caps.

well...
most people do mind it, and if you're writing in a public forum, it's somewhat more respectful to your readers to abide by convention.
also, i think it has everything to do with being "intellectual." ...if there's no need for caps lock and you're using it anyway, i don't think it says a lot for your cranial capacity.
now, i certainly don't mean to offend or insult anyone, i'm just offering some friendly advice. after all, most people here are here for the scholarship contest, right? a huge number of points comes from how many reads you have, and most people won't read something that's written in all caps because it's kind of annoying.

I also come from a small town inhabited by small minds. I had to wait until I went to college to get away from it.
It's unfortunate and sick that there are still people in this world that can't accept skin color as just another human trait. I wish that the paradigms of naive people didn't have to be directed at you, a person, and quite obviously a person who does not deserve it. I'm glad that you have the courage to post such a blog, because I think there are a lot of people out there that need to hear your side of the situation. Keep holding on. God bless.
