Sleeping GOOD
By uhshawk31 - Posted on February 19th, 2007
How much do you sleep every night? Did you know that the average American only gets 6 hour of sleep when they are suppose to get 8? Why you need to get more sleep.
Recent studies show that for people who sleep more, they have a less chance of developing a heart problem.
Many people around the U.S. esp. teens probably don't go to bed until 4 in the morning. You need to get better rest than that.
Heart problems aren't the only thing sleeping helps you with, it also allows you to stay focused and not get yourself killed by falling asleep at the wheel on your way to work.
For teens, sleeping will help you in school and in your daily activities. It provides energy to the body and allows it to withstand situations longer. I have done a study and found that in my school, kids who say they don't get 8 hours of sleep every night, are getting lower grades than the kids who do.
Theres a student in my math class that during the 100 and something days we have been in school, hes probably only been awake twice, and guess what kind of grade he has. Yeah I'm sure you could guess.
So before you decide to stay up and watch the big game or your favorite singing show, think about your health.

i wrote this blog because i wanted people to know this fact and realize what not sleeping can do to you.
I knew about the mental fatigue that can come from lack of proper sleep, and how that could result in lower productivity (such as the grades you describe)...
But I had no idea that it could actually affect your heart-health!
That's scary.

Hello
you write good posts, but, you do not have to tell us why you wrote them, try to include that into the post, your writing should tell us the goal you are trying to achieve.
Also, I agree.
I used to get tons of sleep, and I was never sick. Then, my first week of college, I got slammed with a nasty nasty cold because I had only been getting a few hours of sleep a night
One should mention, however, that the body needs less sleep as one ages. A healthy (and normal) amount of sleep for a 70 year old is only 4 to 5 hours a night.
Me... I hope I'm one of those 70 year olds that can manage 8 hours. All the sleep I'm losing now I fully intend to make up when I'm old. Insomnia is a worse pain in the ass than doing the dishes.

As for the kid who sleeps all the time... After lunch every day I would lay my head on my desk and sleep the afternoon away. The teachers just put my work on my desk for me to take home. I didn't get my first B until the 7th grade.

I think sleeping plays a BIG rule in how you function on a daily bases. Also, how much information you can recall for a class and your responding time.
I'm more likely to get up at 4 am than I am to fall asleep at 4 am. I'm lucky if I can make it to midnight without passing out. However, I'd just like to say that I must be an exception to the rule, since I usually get 6-7 hours a night, and I had the top grade in my Calculus class senior year of high school. It was also first thing in the morning, and I usually read my novels through the class. And I managed to make a 7 on my IB exam and a 5 on my AP exam, so it wasn't just a matter of the class being easy.
But yeah, sleep is good for you. It tends to make you more productive. Though I've found that showers at 9:30 at night rejuvenate me enough to be really productive in the remaining 2 hours I have left before I crash.

I used to go to sleep at 1 AM; but now I go to bed sometime during the 10 PM hour or 11 PM hour because I learned that because I constantly drink ice-cold water throughout the day and while I'm sleeping, all that water helps make the fat and calories that I accumulated in my body dissapear; so, that's why I don't stay up late, anymore.
