How Basketball Has Affected My Life...

Basketball is my life! Without Basketball I would not have the pride, dtermination, and knowledge of teamwork that I have now. Before I started playing basketball I was one of those kids with a low self esteem and had a very hard time believing in myself. But with the coaches and players help all of this has changed. With the hard work it takes to be an athlete, that taught me the value of working hard and learning to endure what ever it is thrown at you.Even though the fun and hard work parts of baketball make you stronger, the bad times make you a better person in whole. Being an African-American baskestball player I face several sterotypes that most NBA players and other African Americans have made for themselves. For example, when going to play schools of different cultures, me and my team are called out of our name and especially the racial slur of the "N" word. Through all of this, I have learned to maintain my composure and not lower to myelf to the level of "name-calling". I also came to the conclusion that life will be like this all through adulthood and even possibly the career I choose to be in. Basketball has had a major effect on my life and has in all made me a better person.

Sometimes people don't realize what sports, basketballs and other, can teach us. We learn things that can never can be taught in classrooms, and will help us become better people. It's good to see someone else realizes what sports can do for us.
