Has Internet Networking Reduced Communication?

Websites such as MySpace and Facebook are the new trend between individuals. The question is are these sites taking away from the communication that takes place within our society. It has been studied that more people enjoy talking to people through websites than in person. This study shows the problems with social interaction in our lifestyles. When people refuse to communicate face to face they lose the neccesary verbal skills needed to advance in life.

If I did not communicate with people face to face I'm not sure where I would be at today. Plus face to face communication comes from the heart. It allows expression and feelings.

I understand that some people may be shy or have a fear of talking but when it gets to the point where you talk to your best friend online more than you talk to them in person you have a social problem.

Not saying this is the solution but some children say they are social outcasts. Well if they do not put themselves in situations and try to obtain a social life then it is their fault. Everyone has people that they can connect with. There are always people that will have the same interets and feelings as you about issues just as there are those who will not.

Yes using these sites can be very beneficial but don't forget the real way to communicate. Share your feelings with someone else. Make eye contact and let others hear your voice. Speech is a beautiful thing that some people are unfortunate to have so be thankful that you are able to and use it to it's every advantage.

Yes. Yes, it does reduce communication.

Of course technology is ruining interpersonal communication and social closness. I do not think that it is just internet. The iPods and cell phone use prevent people from seeing what is going on around them to the detriment of society.

WIth that said I prefer communication via electronics. I have kids...you can not hear them rambling, crying or fighting. If I have to pause our discussion as I just did to go check out why my little girl was crying in her sleep you do not even notice. If my son comes in to show me his glorious art work or needs me to fix something I can go do it without interupting our conversation or forgeting what I was about to say.

Although it has drawbacks it also has its pluses.
Nice post
