Somewhat Libertarian, Definitely Conservative
If you have read any of my blogs so far, you have probably figured out that I’m a Conservative. What you may not have noticed yet (but certainly will) is that I lean a bit toward the Libertarian side as well. Also, I’m a Christian. I know what you’re thinking now, “Gasp! Teenage Christians still exist? …And one’s blogging on here?!!” Well, if that’s what you’re thinking, then the answer is yes. I started blogging here because I wanted a scholarship, but I also blog because I enjoy sharing my Conservative opinion with people who have a more progressive/ liberal view and discussing it with them. So basically, what all this Christian/ Conservative/ Libertarian stuff means in terms of my stance of the issues is this:

*I’m pro-life. I don’t see how eight inches down the birth canal changes a fetus to a human and therefore makes killing him murder.
*I’m pro-war. If you wonder how I can hold this position and call myself a Libertarian, that’s why I acknowledge that I’m a Conservative first. Also, by pulling our troops out, more violence will ensue, terrorist groups will thrive, and they WILL come back here and attack us on our soil.
*I believe there is an absolute, non-relative standard of morality as prescribed in the Bible and that man has the free choice to obey it or to rebel.
*I oppose gay marriage (This is for the above-mentioned reason as well as to prevent the diseases it spreads, and to keep the family in tact for the children’s sake.)

No one's gasping. There are a ton of you on here.

YOu say:
*I oppose gay marriage (This is for the above-mentioned reason as well as to prevent the diseases it spreads, and to keep the family in tact for the children’s sake.)
and
"*I believe there is an absolute, non-relative standard of morality as prescribed in the Bible and that man has the free choice to obey it or to rebel."

So therefore you ARE rebelling against the Bible because you are against gay marriage and abortion...but are you following the bible when it says not to judge?
I think not.

You oppose allowing two individuals to enter into a contractual obligation solely because your own values oppose it, yet philosophical libertarianism offers up the opposite position.

Unless, of course, you claim to be an economic libertarian. Yet, as one of the founding mothers of modern libertarian thought -- Ayn Rand -- astutely pointed out: economic liberty is a civil liberty. If you accept libertarianism as a political philosophy then you must accept both tenets. Your belief that contractual agreements should be restricted so that they conform to your own belief system is a restriction on both economic and civil liberty.

So stop insulting the libertarians by claiming to be one. They'll thank you for it.

If this is a reply to my comment....

then these are NOT my views. I am saying that if youre going to oppose things like these because of the Bible, then you are completely disregarding other parts of the Bible.

Whose philosophical ignorance offends me.

Agreed.

Disease will be spread no matter what sexes are having sex. If you are referring to HIV and its prevailance amongst gays, also look at the spread of such diseases between heteros. There isn't much difference these days.

Good for you for taking a stand and succombing to become such a Liberal Conservative.

Thank you so much for making this point. I didn't feel like bothering. It happens every single day, and it gets exhausting to constantly have to combat ignorance.

agreed. I was going to type something about this but was too lazy.

Just thought you might appreciate one more thing to post up when attacked by ignorant people.

combatting the same ignorance over and over again is best done on livejournal, where cat macros are acceptable forms of argument.
