2 new drugs in Clonazepam-Xanax family!

There are 2 new investigational drugs out that are benzodiazepine derivatives.    They are:

Clobazam-

                    Antianxiety and anticonvulsant properties similar to diazepam.  Adult dose = 20-30 mg/day

Nitrazepam-

                    Widely used in Europe and Canada for Many years.  Used as sedative/hypnotic in doses of 2.5-10 mg

 

Do we really need anymore benzodiazepines???????????????????  I think NOT

Actually, the ones that are currently on the market have side effects. Until all side effects are eliminated, YES we need more benzodiazepines.
