Now I have never been one for public speeches but I have also never been one to take "no" for an answer very easily.
Perhaps it isn't the best idea to rant like this in a blog but I am going to do it anyway. Besides, high school is something that everyone goes through, right?
So this year my school district hired a new superintendent who noboby likes because he has completely screwed things up. One of his biggest mistakes has to do with the public speaking mentioned in my first sentence.
You see I tied with another student for salutatorian of my graduating class which usually means I would have to give a speech. Yet I was told that since there were two salutatorians the speeches were being cut to "save time". They were only supposed to be a minute long, but it was the superintendents choice. Apparently his time is super valuable since he already also cut out a two minute band performance as well.
Anyways, the student I tied with and I are trying to fight this. Unfortunately we have been told by several faculty members that the administration does not care what us puny students have to say.
This brings up a larger argument of why is it that adults think they can do whatever they want to teens? We have minds of our own and the right of free speech yet we continue to be suppressed at every turn. In this world it seems that there is only a very narrow age window of when your opinion actually count, although these people are outnumbered by those both below and above that group.

something that you can choose to do especially if you are eighteen and registered to vote. hell it might make it to the supreme court, especially if said superintendent is infringing upon your pursuit of happiness. one more thing. you shouldn't double post this blog. but if it was an honest mistake, then you have two of the same blogs. and might want to delete one of them. i won't vote until one of them is down.
