The Colbert after-dinner performance at the White House Correspondent's Dinner that was practically blacked out in the MSM has proved its staying power.

After being at the top of Technorati searches for well over a week, it looked like the hubbub over Colbert had died down. But now the audio recording of the performance has hit number one on iTunes.

The 'album' beat out new releases by Pearl Jam, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Paul Simon. At $1.95 a pop, you can imagine that audible.com, the company who releases C-Span's material, made a pretty penny off of Stephen Colbert's, um, unfunny performance.

Maybe the full effect comes when you put in "Stephen Colbert" in Google News and search by date. The first few have nothing to do with Colbert hitting #1, but instead have to do with sayings of Colbert's.

Or is it rather -- in Stephen Colbert's famous phrase -- like shuffling chairs on the Hindenberg? 1. As for Parsons' view that TWX is undervalued

So let's give Google and MySpace a Stephen Colbert tip of the hat, and reserve a wag of the finger for the slower search sites that are watching Google pull further and further away with every passing month.

The usual critical line on Bette Davis reminds me of Stephen Colbert's hardball question concerning the commander in chief: "Great president or the greatest president?"

And Bush's current critics dish it out right in the president's face, as Comedy Central's faux talk show host Stephen Colbert did at the recent White House Correspondents Dinner.

Stephen Colbert, my friend, you have truly arrived. Now your (character's) sayings are part of national knowledge.

Ha, how can anyone watch that video and claim that Stephen Colbert "wasn't funny"?

Reminds me of when Jon Stewart went on Crossfire and Tucker Carlson told him he wasn't being funny. Oh really? Is that why the audience -- your fans -- were cracking up while he ripped apart your show?

Good old Colbert. What a funny speech

I haven't seen it but Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert often give more reliable news then the big news stations.

Please elaborate. I want to have discourse, not just random comments to up your points.

genius. that speech was bomb. the wit, the blatantness! I just re-watched it and almost peed, honestly. it was a funny and actually moving performance.
