Blogging: Why?...Because college prices are skyrocking out of control

I just created account on this site...for college money. I hurts when colleges continue to raise already high tutition rates. It has become increasingly hard for even middle class citizens to afford these institutions. While it is even worse for the poorer. I was optimistic for merit award and recieved some...but 25,000 a year after that isn't easy. I thought I had done everything right spent hour after hour volunteering and doing homework. However, that didn't work out for me so now I say our government needs to reach out to more than those with extremely low incomes. Paying for college as a middle class is not easy. You need to be an extreme on the sprectrum which means having so much money it oozes out of your ears or be so poor that you can't afford basic nessicities. So please tell me if you know what I did wrong to have to this face ridiculous college debt. It's not like any of my 8 schools rejected me. How do you think our government and institutions of higher education should address this issue? I don't think handing out money is the answer...but there needs to be some sort of policy that addresses the average person...not an extreme. The average is always overlooked because the extremes stand out so much but sometimes it the people and things that look so normal that need the attention.

At the moment, The nation is too involved in spending money and we are in such a financial deficit that it would be difficult for the government to spend anymore money on education, although it should be one of their top priorities. In California, they are laying off a bunch of teachers at the end of this school year due to budgeting. As for the middle class, the classification of middle class, lower class, and upper class have drastically changed over the years and at the moment, even being average is classified into upper middle class and lower middle class. The government tries to appeal to the lower classes first by providing them with more aide in order to try and give everyone an "equal" chance at education. However, the main problem that I think the nation has is that we are spending too much money on trying to raise everyone to a certain standard and not enough on those who are already above that standard. Not that I am saying that we should neglect everyone who falls below, but that we should allocate more of the scholarships and educational funding to those who will benefit the most from it by being able to utilize it. In my opinion, we spend too much money on the general public and not enough on those who are already gifted. While this may be a very one sided view, it would make sense to spend more on students who are more likely to succeed right?
