So a group of my friends and I went to an Obama rally and we carpooled on the way over there. My friend Katie was driving her car and I was driving mine. I told Katie to lead because she is a horrible tailgater. So, she led for a while and then she got lost and signaled me to lead. I was a bit reluctant to do so because of the tailgating and all the backseat drivers going on that all just KNOW how to drive better than us. So, I get in the lead and everyone is talking like crazy saying, "OHMIGOD you're going to hit that guy in the crosswalk!" And I'm saying, "What? OHMIGOD! Why are you talking to me??? I almost hit that guy in the crosswalk!!" We're talking on the phone to the other people in the car and the same is happening in there. So I'm at a light and my friend distracted by all the other people hits my car. Now, I'm not too worried and I don't want her to freak out so I tell her not to worry about it for now. But two days later when my bumper started to fall off, my dad - not so considerate of my friend's feelings. So I told my friend that she had to pay for it and then she got mad at me and tried to tell me I told her she wasn't liable for rearending me when I was stopped at a light and she hit me. Then she didn't talk to me for a week. Can you really get mad at someone for that? I mean seriously? How can you get mad at someone when you're liable?

Just file a police report and then let her insurance company pay for it. At least you could get your car fixed that way....
That really stinks. Unfortunately, it's really common. You just have to deal with it and move on and hopefully you'll be more careful about what you say because now you know how easy it is for things to be misinterpreted.
Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.
