The time is 7:20 PM, or so it says on my computer. I'm tired, I have a headache, and I'm writing my first blog EVER. Yes, yes, I used to be a blog virgin, but I'm becoming a woman now, so it only seems right to write. While it may seem that my sense of humor is lacking, it probably is. But that's not to say that I'm a completely boring person. If you can tell from my picture, I do have an afro and no, it is not a wig. I'm growing it out for the winter to keep my ears warm, and then I'll shed it off for the spring and summer. Please tell me if I'm doing this wrong, because I haven't the slightest clue as to what people "blog" about. I suppose they talk about current issues, recent trends, the workings of their inner minds, and all kinds of stuff. Since I'm a very private person, I think I'll stay away from the latter. I'll try my best to talk about current issues, except that it seems like I have no time to watch the news. Sure, I get to watch ten minutes of it in the morning as I chow down on a bowl of Corn Chex without the milk (I hate milk, have hated it since forever). But after school, all I have time to do is work on my college applications. I guess now is a good time to tell you that I am a high school senior going to school in New Jersey. I'm applying, as of now, to nine schools, which is shorter than my previous 12 school list. I hope to major in film, so I'm applying to the big names-USC, NYU, Emerson College, but also to Vassar, North Carolina School of the Arts, Florida State University, Northwestern University, Chapman University, and the College of Santa Fe. Yes, Santa Fe. I don't know what's out there, but it seems pretty enough. Oh, and if you have any movie ideas, I'm more than happy to listen. I'm the need for some good inspiration.
Right now I have an idea for a short called 'The Crossing Guard.' I'm basing it on the crossing guard that helps me cross the street everyday after school. Even though nobody ever goes onto or comes out of that street, she makes sure to sprint across the perpendicular busy street to get me across. Oh, and did I mention that she's about as old as my great grandmother? The other day she called me 'babe' and today she offered me her umbrella for the rest of the walk home since it was pouring out. Anyway, she's cute and when she talks to you she stands about two inches from you and leans in as though it's a secret. Back to my movie idea. I was thinking that it would be about a boy who comes across this crossing guard on his way home from school and the two start to have an insightful and loving relationship. They talk about everything from politics and phsyics, to philosophy and love. As the two grow closer and closer, the crossing guard becomes older and older (as does every human being on earth) and the young boy begins to take responsibility for her, making sure that she gets home okay, taking her out to the movies, and helping her pay her bills. The boy is then ready to go off to college and the two must go their separate ways. It's a story about love, compassion, and finding a best friend in even the oldest of people.
So....what do you think? You don't have to love it. But I do. Well I'm just about all tuckered out and I should probably start thinking about what's for dinner. But I'm really liking this 'blogging' thing and I'll probably do it again if I can remember (I suck at remembering). Next time, I'll hopefully be well read on my current events and I'll try to not take so long in the shower so that I can watch more of Rob and Darlene at 6:00 AM on NBC. Well, I guess that this is goodbye. So...goodbye.
