This is a continuation of my 18 hour vacation story. It picks up where pt one left off. Here is the link: http://www.progressiveu.org/174230-my-18-hour-vacation-saga
The talks we were having were wonderful, but their wonder and beauty, and really the beauty of the whole trip was being marred by the presence of the enemy. She said nothing to us, but a few words here and there, but her presence, not her words was the thing that grated at us. She was an anchor. An anchor in the cruel unforgiving world of reality that we were no longer a part of. We were in a different universe, a universe of unending knowledge, and indescribably sights and sounds. Yet she was so smug in her understanding, or rather her lack thereof. She thought she had all the answers and we none. The world she was in provided no questions, no answers, just simplified sights and sounds for the simplified mind. I looked at her with disdain. She knew nothing. Nothing of the horrors and wonder that lay before my eyes. Nothing of the patterns, nothing of the breathing, nothing of the energy ball that seemed to lap against my sides as if it were a calm pool. The moment she left, we all got the most elating feeling. We were free from the normal world. Free from the anchors that the enemy had left for us. Anchors only meant to confuse us, to make us think we were lesser because we were different. Finally we could all revel in the sameness of our state of mind. The living room that made up our universe was finally free of the invaders.
As we talked and talked, the energy inside me did not abate. It just sat and built, not satisfied anymore with just lip movements. By now, when i looked at the objects around the room, they came alive. I looked at the color changing couch. The arm seemed to start bubbling, as if it was water over a fire, and began to boil. The carpets intertwining snakes of color created an ever changing portrait. it was no longer as if I would let my mind wonder, and let my eyes go out of focus, and see small movements that would go away when i focuses. Now it was as if I was in a cartoon world, where the artist had a drug induced sense of humor. It was thrilling. The sights and sounds were spectacular. However, looking, seeing, talking, none of these things satisfied my unending urge for activity. I needed to leave this place, at least for a little while, and explore the sights and sounds of the outside. We all looked at each other, with the same idea on our minds. "Lets get some Chinese" one of us said. And off we were, to explore the unexplored terrain of our city streets.
As we walked outside, I already knew that this world would not be like the world of outside I was used to. The grass danced, the leaves shook, and morphed, the trees waved and greeted my posse as we walked. Any joke, or slightly humorous action was greeted by roaring laughter .We got on a main road, and at the behest of Big John, we controlled our laughter, lest someone from the other, sane side be notified of our expedition. Our travel was illegal, but the irony of it was we traveled in plain sight. As we walked, my group separated into two groups, one walking about 10-15 feet in front of the other. I was with my friend Bob, while Big John was with his girlfriend, Sally. Me and bob silently laughed at unheard jokes, and pointed out sights that were worth seeing. We passed grass that was so intensely yellow it seemed to have come ablaze. The sidewalks cracks seemed to travel along an ever changing path, as if it too was in a our world, and traveled with us like guides in dangerous terrain.
We finally reached our destination. The Chinese food place, and a Sam's mart where we could buy Cigarettes for my other three companions. I withdrew my 20 dollars, and walked up to the counter of the store. The clerk knew nothing of my travels, and looked at me as if i was a "normal" person. I asked for cigarettes, being 18 and all, but didn't have a proper ID. All i had was a learners permit, and a school ID. I could prove I was 18, but it was Iffy. I asked for the product (Marb reds) and waited for his approval. Of course he asked for identification, so I explained as best I could what I had, and gave him the school ID, and the permit. He sat staring at them for what seemed like 3 hours, but was probably only about 5 minutes. Time in this world did not exist as we know it. It was as if it was slower, and faster at the same time, and as if certain things were on different time than I was. On this time, I could grow 7 years older in the time that my friend next to me grows 7 years younger. I stared at the mans dark brown complexion. His face seemingly coming alive when it noticed that it had my eyes attention. Finally, the man behind the counter delivered the bad news. He refused my credentials, and took back the pack of cigarettes. I sat, staring in awe, angry at the man. There was nothing I could do, so i just angrily turned away and left the store. I delivered the bad news to my friends, and walked 10 feet to the Chinese store. We all decided on what we wanted, and while Big John and Sally went into the store, me and Bob walked to a wall, and waited.
To the normal passerby er, the sight of me and my friend at the wall would seem strange. They would see two teenagers staring intently at a pink or peach colored wall. However, the wall to us was the most wonderful sights we would see in this strange universe. The wall sat their, and told us its life story. As we looked, its color went from a fresh looking, new pink to a pale pink that had seen more seasons than the god of the normal world himself. As i looked, and as the color changed cracks formed and disappeared. It went from new to old to new again. It changed from pink to red, back to pink, to orange, to peach, to pink. The wall demonstrated the lack of meaning that time in this world would inherit. Me and bob were fascinated by the wall. We claimed it as our own. It was a stunning things to see, whether or not you are accustomed to traveling the world I was in or Not.
We didn't bother explaining the wall to big John. We just walked back to the house. To the living room where we would be safe from overzealous onlookers who don't condone travel or exploration other than of the normal world. We got back to the living room that seemed to be the capitol, or center of our universe. We sat down to feast, glorious in our victory over a terrain that we didn't even travel in the normal sense.
Thats it for part two. Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as i enjoyed writing this. Up to come is: the never ending questions, the darts that were out to get us, and much more. The story is about 2-4 hours into the 18 hours.
