Gay Marriage Vote Blocked

The vote on a proposed Constitutional amendment that would allow the legality of gay marriage to be put to a vote was rightly blocked this afternoon. Massachusetts is still the only state which allows full fledged marriage, though many are beginning to legalize and recognize civil unions.

In the article one person claims that they are fighting for their constitutional right to vote. I have one thing to say to that.

I vote that that person is not allowed to vote.

Hopefully you all caught the sarcasm there. Voting on rights is something that is not, and should not, be done. And as marriage has been declared a fundamental right by the Supreme Court, it stands that the rights of others to marry should not be voted upon. I must admit I am proud of the legislature for realizing this.

Now to those who wish to ask why pedophiles or those who wish to participate in beastiality cannot marry their "loved ones" I say this: Marriage is a legal contract. Until a child or a dog, or any other living thing can understand a legally binding contract, they will have to wait.

I also want to take this time out and also re-enforce a piece of the above article: not all christians, or followers of any religion for that matter, oppose gay marriage, so please try to avoid those generalizations if you choose to comment
