I'm a junior in highschool this year and after next year i have to decide what to do with my life. I have a plan which is good, i wanna be a culinary arts chef. I wanna do international foods and i plan to go to either the art institute of philly, harrisburg area community college or a college in ny. Im saving money all this year and i have a job right now working at hershey park. See i have MOST of the stuff i need to do worked out. My point of this bulletin is going out on your own is a scary thought i mean i don't know if ill be able to afford school and bills and all that. If i go to classes during the day and wokr at night ill be working part time thats not a lot of money. So anyways back to my point, if you come from a lower class family how are you supposed to be able to do all this stuff. Now days you have to go to college to get a better job(not saying if you don't go to college you can't get a good job).Who really will give loans and stuff like that to an 18 year old that only works part time. Now i know you can get loans and stuff but it's gotta be hard. I know im scared to death to go out on my own i have so many fears about not being able to make it out there. How are you supposed to know all the stuff you need to know to be on your own? I've never paid a bill in my life, i dont have a bank account, and i have no idea about anything that has to do with renting anything. So how am i supposed to know this stuff? My parents can't really help because neither of them went to college and they both moved in with boyfriends or friends when they first moved out. So how am i supposed to know how to do this stuff? I know im not the ONLY person who has fear i can imagine almost everyone has fears about leaving home. My fear isn't the leaving part it's the failing part. I just don't understand how we're just supposed to know all this... it's like once you hit 18 you just automatically know everything you need to know to leave home.
BIG WORLD......little me!!!!

Ok iam kinda like you i was gonna go to school for culinary arts at the art institute of philly but i like working on cars so iam goin to uti once you become a senior and graduate all you have to is sit down with your parents and talk. Even before you graduate high school talk to your guidence counsaler about it they might help you. Wit the student loans they will give u an amount to pay back every month it might sound hard and scary but its all not to bad
Don't be afraid...
And you should totally apply to the Culinary School of America (CIA) here in upstate New York. It's awesome, and I know you would absolutely love it. Not to mention that there are lots of independent culinary scholarships around; just surf around the web for awhile and start applying!
Check out scholarships.com and fastweb.com and similar sites to apply for scholarships. There are probably scholarships offered by local businesses near you as well. As far as loans go, there are several options for student loans. Just because you're 18 doesn't mean you can't get a loan!! Student loans are designed for students!
Open a bank account. Check on some scholarships. Talk to your guidance counselor. Do some more research about your options, and I'm sure you'll be just fine! :)
for the advice i can use all i can get
