The morning after pill

Tagged:  •

I was thinking about that whole morning after pill thing.  It's for like if you get raped you can come in the morning after to a clinic and take this pill so you wont get pregnant.  But actually you have up to three days after intercourse to get this pill.  I'm not quite sure that you have to be raped to get it though.  I go to a catholic school and they like to say it causes you to have an abortion, but in reality it just stops your ovaries from releasing an egg and it makes it so the fertilized egg wont stick to the lining in your womb.  I read that this pill does not effect or stop a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus.  So I guess my school wasn't too honest about this pill.  I don't know if I think it's right to take.  It seems like it would be okay if you were raped.  It seems like it would be okay for anyone to take actually.  But I think it kind of stops people from being responsible.  That's a difficuly thing to say though.

You don't have to be raped to take Plan B. You can take it if the guy's condom breaks during intercourse,
or you were drunk and forgot to put your diaphragm in or whatever happened that put you at risk for getting pregnant.

The active ingredient in Plan B is the same thing in birth control pills. It's just taking a larger dose. It not an abortion and it can't do anything to an egg that's already been fertilized.

You don't have to wait 3 days to take it. In fact its most effective if taken within 72 hours (3 days) of having unprotected sex. So if you've had unprotected sex, you should take the morning after pill as soon as possible .
