Again the media has taken a simple issue of legal rights and blown it out of proportion into some higher civil liberties battle. Like with the Terry Schaivo case, as simple custody battle turned right-to-life melee, the media has now begun heralding the cause of a whistlerblower whose whistle-blowing right have been taken away from him.
Well, that's all according to the article which turned a simple overturned harrassment suit into a first amendment battle ground. CNN completely disregards that this case is only remotely related to the plaintiff's whistle-blowing, and wastes no time in trashing newly inducted Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, deciding to pair his photo with the story instead of anything that actually relates to the story.
This case has nothing to do with First Amendment rights. This is a simple issue of whether the Sherriff was allowed to do his job. What happened to Ceballos is no different than what happens to a Wal-Mart employee when he pisses off his boss. He gets demoted; he loses respect; he may even get fired.

I wonder if I can bump this...
