On March 23, America got a new Miss USA. Tara Conner, the old Miss USA crowned Rachel Smith from Tennessee.
Here's to hoping that the new Miss USA will bring less bad attention upon the competition. Tara Conner had a very public battle with alcoholism following a very public apology. Hopefully Rachel Smith will have better luck with representing America in a classy way.
Obviously, Miss Conner had very real problems that needed to be addressed, but it is unfortunate that, as a mentor for young girls, the title of Miss USA was tarnished. I sincerely hope that this new Miss USA will do a better job representing the USA.

How many little girls really look up to Miss USA? No one really talks about Miss USA until something like what happened to Tara Conner happens. Lets say in mid-July or August would anyone really be able to tell you who the new Miss USA is? Not likely.
Maybe that's just me then. I know when I was little I looked up to all the girls in the pagents. I always wanted to be like them and my parents used to tape the pagents and I'd watch them over and over again. To me it's disappointing that the girls I once looked up to aren't the people I would want my kids looking up to one day.

Who gives a damn about some crap like miss america anyway. I couldn't tell her from any person on the street, I don't even know when the contest happens. When I was growing up I did not look up to miss America and neither did any of the girls I knew. And I don't think Tara Conner is any different from most young women her age. I'm sure that's what most girls in the Miss America contest are doing, she just got caught. I don't really think people look to Miss America as a representative of the U.S.
The Miss America pagent is different from the Miss USA pagent, not that you particularly care but just so you know.
