Recently in my Global Issues class, my teacher had us do a Socratic seminar on "The War in Iraq". Well, during this Socratic I thought to myself, what is a democracy? Isn't a democracy a state of society characterized by formal equality of rights and privileges? Is it not government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system? Another question specifically..... Under a democracy there not the freedom of religion? If there is, does that not mean that established religions can practice and acknowledge fully, their religious traditions? Think about suicide bombers in Iraq-those who sacrifice their bodies, their live just to fulfill religious practices and beliefs. What are they doing? Are they rebelling? No, they are not; rather, they are just fulfilling religious duties. And we, regardless how unbiased we think they are, we cannot judge whether or not their religion is legitimate or not. So, if we are trying to prevent and destroy war, why are we trying to legalize- through a democracy, killing (suicide bombing, etc...)?I find this all to be one unrealized plot to destroy humanity. It’s a seemingly ironic paradox.

That's an interesting angle. I think the entire spectrum of Neocon hawking is inhuman.
The Once-ler: Well, what do you want? I should shut down my factory, fire a hundred-thousand workers? Is that good economics, is that sound for the country?
