The internet is a frontier. Vast, seemingly infinite, a bit lawless, and a place where fortunes can be made and lost. It can sieze the imagination and the mind and at the same time rob and malign you.
This website is a perfect microcosm of what the universe of the Internet is. Flashes in the pan. Pop starts, and fads, a quick idea that generates a bit of momentum taking it to one level beyond one mind, and carrying with it a few, mabye lots of minds. But it is average. Mediocre, and only strives for the benefit ultimately of one. Sometimes a few, but the rest of those who bought into the idea, are left in the dust playing with some friendly tumbleweeds that blow in from time to time.
I started blogging here about 1/3 of a year ago by my estimates... There were lots of things being said, a few good ideas popped up now and then, but most of it was tween rage focused around the pop-issues of the day...
A1: "You Suck"
A2: "No, YOU Suck"
A1: "NO, YOU SUCK!"
A2: "I AM RIGHT because I SAY SO, AND YOU ARE WRONG AND YOU SUCK!!! HA HA, LAST WORD, I AM RIGHT!!!"
A1: "Um, gee, I can't believe I was arguing with that for a second. Rage is a really ugly thing"
A2: "I AM RIGHT!!! SEE !!! YOU STOPPED YELLING FIRST !!!!! AHAHHAHAHA!!! I AM RIGHT!!!
A1: "Wow. I don't know where to begin blogging about that."
And so on thusly, until of course we went from brilliant idea on how to save baby seals, feed the homeless and avoid the Asian Flu in one fell swoop, to an Osbourne like headbanging fest.
So, like so many nooks of the internet, this side has cropped up, sparked interest, and blew away like so many of the other internet tumbleweeds that are unable to lead people to the next level.
The vision was lost in the smoke and mirrors of the money, contest and prizes, like so many other pop fads and fashions.
So I say R.I.P. to this site Unless someone can prove me otherwise... :-)

Fine, I'll fight for the sheer purpose of fighting =)
Yes, we're at a downtime compared to the spring. I say "we" because although I did not have an account, I commented unrelentlessly on people's blogs. They probably found me annoying.
The purpose of progress is to move on, but it doesn't happen all at once. We need to keep trying. As I posted before, no progress is worse than retrogression. We need to try. And if you consider this retrogression, let's get our minds working so we change that direction and create more progress. We just can't become rusty.
And yes, I agree with your illustration of the yelling match. There are some issues that will never be solved. We need to allow people to hold their own beliefs while working for the greater good.
But everyone, truthinlogic has a point. Where are you guys?!

Unrelentlessly: not a word, also redundant. You want relentlessly.
And for clarification, this isn't solely for the money. I tried to log on twice mid-contest last year, and I was never sent the confirmation email. I do this because I like it, and I learn from it, and I'm forced to keep my eye open for news. It's educational for me.

Good for you. I'll honestly admit that I, for one, am here not for decent debates but for the money.
