Lets face it today its ridicoulsy easy to get a hold of drugs, and the one that every athlete desires most is steroids. Steroids have been known to have some major advantages as seen with legends such as Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, The Steel Curtain, Mark McGuire, The Carolina Panthers Team, Shawn Merrimen, and the list goes on and on. So who can really blame any young adult who sees the results that pro athletes reap from using the roids and wants to try them. NO one can. Lets face it the American dream: Fast Cars, Gorgeous Women, Lots of Dough. What do all athletes paid professionally have in common? The american dream is their everyday life.
High schoolers across the nation have an access to steroids now more than ever. Before if your parent was a doctor, it was fathomable for you to recieve them but that still goes on but is an uncommon practice. The internet is a huge resource for narcotics and is the easiest way to buy and sell roids. And lets face it the buyer has no way of identifying himself so who is to say that the person is a legal presciber to the drug. But the drug industry could give a rats ass just as long as they make their money. So high schoolers are experimenting and abusing steroids now more than ever.
It does not end there though. Just the other day I saw a middle school student working out at the high school weight room trying to work hard. He saw an older football player and asked him how he got so big. THe answer he gave was the truth which was astounding: roids and fat burners, more roids. What a huge suprise! NOT! He is 6'0 230 pounds and not an ounce of fat. Runs a 4.3 and is a freak of nature but is as dumb as a brick and has a receding hair line. You just have to take one look at him to know he abuses. Whats worst is he told the middle school kid to hit the roids as well. Startin awfully young I say. But thats not the best part. THe older kid sold the middle school student the roids at that moment down in the locker room. What a scary thought, how safe are kids at school and how can we stop high schoolers from this downward spiral toward dependecy on performance enhancing drugs. Hell we need to start clear at the primary schools to stop this problem becuase its already working its way down and having quite a crippling effect on the youth of today.

The issue in preventing use of steriods, especially in minors, is the motivation for using them in the first place. The glorification of brute strength and winning, peer pressure, and pressure from parents or coaches all seem to be some of the root motivation for using steriods.

This is very sad. People can work hard and get big without steroids they just need to be determined. Steroids are so unhealthy it is ridiculous and they may not know it now but they are killing themselves to look good. It is sad that this used to be seen on tv only but now it is reality.
