Bad Business!

I called my pharmacy to find out exactly how much money I needed for my prescription. My insurance hadn't kicked in yet and I really needed my medication. They quoted me $618.19 three times. They also gave the same quote to my dad (since I obviously couldn't afford this on my own and needed help with it) three times as well. I took the check into them along with my prescription. I drop off my scrip and tell them I'll be back in thirty minutes. I returned twenty minutes later. They called my name and told me two things...1) they don't have enough pills to fill my prescription and 2) the amount exceeds the amount on my check. WTF!?!?!? They said it was actually $654.89!!! I asked them how that could be considering I called them three times and so had my father and each time we called they told us it was $618.19. They responded with, "Are you sure it was this location?" I said, "I'm depressed not retarded! I know it was this location because this is the closest to my house!" So they said they could give me the amount of pills that equaled my check. I agreed. Then they told me I couldn't pick it up until the day after because they were still short on my prescription. I knew there had to be something wrong when they couldn't fax or email me a price quote!

What kind of business operates this way? It makes no sense to me that they couldn't fax or email a quote. Obviously the girl on the other end of the phone was either swindling me or just plain stupid. Shouldn't they be a bit more intelligent if they're dealing with people's health????

Sounds like they didn't charge you tax. It's a little less than 7% difference, which is the amount of tax in most places. Of course, I'm not sure if drugs are taxed or not, seeing as how I don't have any prescriptions of my own.

Sorry you had such a bad experience...

I think the tax is built into the prescription price if there is any at all. I'm not really sure though. I did ask the ditz if that would be the overall total. She said yes. Either way, she should have never quoted that price if she were unsure.
