Okay so i haven't really been on a whole lot lately and i haven't posted very many blogs as long as i have been a member of this site I have however talked about seeing my ex's ex, being called fat by a friend, male's lack of emotions, etc. ,but the thing is my blogs don't really get that many comments. I mean okay so i don't write about politics, because i know nothing about them and i like to write about stuff that i feel people can relate to then my blogs will receive more comments, but apparently not.
okay so this isn't exactly a progressive blog but please excuse that..
but i have been trying to get on here more and write about important things. things that are not only important to me but also important to other people. but i was on one day and my librarian saw and got on to me so i cant get on during third period anymore which is upsetting because now i have to go back to fastweb applying for schlarships im never going to get but that is not that point,, so anyways i go into my sixth period class one day to get on and post a new blog and wow the damn librarian blocked the site from school..
Okay so i am a huge MySpace fan and i completely understand why it is blocked from my school but blocking a site that is good and could help someone get a scholarship i just don't understand. so why is it that teachers these days have nothing better to do then get into their students personal business??
Education is important so if you are going to be a teacher teach..
If your going to be a librarian do book stuff not sit around and order others to do so.
Although i must adnitt im happy my senior year has been pretty dang easy. :]

Probably because it is a blogging site. Perhaps it wasn't researched very throughly, so the administration assumed it was going to be a distraction. Or it might have had any number of keywords that serve as red flags, considering there are a lot of blogs on sex.

six of every ten blogs I write are ban-worthy. Sorry about that. Having "A Trip Down to Slutville" on the highest rated list probably didn't help your cause any. It doesn't sound very academic. If the librarian had READ it, I'm sure she would have agreed with much of it though.

that is pretty much true but i love your blogs!!
thatgirl2089
but she pretty much complains about anything we look at.. i think she jus saw someones pic and banned it..
but i am now finally done with my senior year so i have nothing to worry about.. except my home internet is soooo slow and sometimes it takes awhile for progressiveu to load.. but thanks for your comment..

You could always appeal the decision to the administration and tell them what ProgressiveU is about and how it is related to academics. You could also cite the service learning program aspect of ProgressiveU as an example of how ProgressiveU is used academically.... in some classrooms, instructors use ProgressiveU as a teaching tool; students are required to post so many blogs about the topics they feel are important and to respond to others; they then integrate those experiences into different aspects of the classroom and I believe that they receive a grade for their participation. We've had two different instructors implement the program in their classes and both have had really positive things to say about the experience. Over the summer, we'll be working more on the service learning aspect and trying to get that integrated further into other classrooms.
And, of course, there is also the scholarship aspect of ProgressiveU. Participation here gives you a chance to interact and share ideas with other students about world events, but also allows you a chance to win a scholarship... I'd say that's pretty academic!
And if you need further support, one of the directors can always send something along to your school administrators about the site and the various programs offered. :) You can email a request for that to info@progressiveu.org or just PM me, Art, mvenus929, or Fanaile Essence if you'd like to pursue that option.
I'm, admittedly, biased, but ProgressiveU isn't worthy of a school ban. Keeps far too many people from getting involved, especially if their internet access is limited solely to school.

What she said. I get the opportunity to make TWO sets of lesson plans this summer... one for my little sisters so they aren't playing with kitties or watching TV all summer, and one for various high school and college classes to promote our service learning program a little more :)

I know what you mean. I have wrote I don't know how many blogs and have recieved one or two comments from people . Thats it. Now every blog I post I try to put my heart into everyone and still one or two. The only ones I have recieved a lot of comments on is politics, abuse, and progress. The most comments I think I ever recieved was on the progress contest. Hang in there. As far as your library, I use to have the same problem at work. When I post a blog or comment on a blog, it is on my computer at work. I don't have a personal one. So my manager came up to me and asked me how this site was work related to the bank and I said this " I have to get a degree in order to be a financial consultant and in order to be that I have to apply for scholarships and this is one of them. Wells Fargo believes in education right? Well I do too."
Keep your head up.
for the comment and good ideas for blogs.. but i honestly don't do politics.. they are way to complicated for me.

Hang in there. The Spring contest tends to be slow for everyone because everyone is so busy with end of the year and graduation activities. If you stick around long enough, however, you'll build up a larger readership and they'll repay you with comments and such. The fall contest is usually the busiest and it can be hard to keep up with all the of the new posts and comments then!
And progressive topics do tend to get the most attention; as that's what ProgressiveU is all about. Posts about everyday things in life really aren't all that popular with most users, so they tend to get less attention.

I've found, though I wouldn't call myself an expert blogger, that posts about personal issues (apart from "We just had a baby!" or "My aunt died!") don't get alot of comments.
Blogs about current events, or things you feel passionate about, as long as they aren't too specific to your person (I.e. "Here's what my ex boyfriend did!"), will get much more in the way of comments.
Look at me, I'm a gun nut. I don't post about my target shooting, though I've been tempted.. heh. I do post about the Constitution, Gun Control, Gun Rights, and a smattering of current events things.
I don't blog for comments, or even for a contest (though I do appreciate ProU's award from the last contest!), but to try and get an under-reported (especially in schools) view of issues that matter.
just visit other peoples blogs, read them, comment them. hopefully they will be nice enough to return the favor. also vote on their blog. more votes=better rating. always rate your own blog, just because you can, but read it like you just stumbled upon it and it is written by someone other than you. maybe wait a day to rate it. read it again and think if you got the point across.
Yours truly,

EVERYONE for the very useful comments but i guess i am just to dumb to write anything that gets good ang high ratings because i dont know anything political, i dont like history such as things about the constitution, certain laws, etc but ill try to figure something out. ha!
but seriously thanks guys..

This is just a helpful suggestion... I am not intending to be rude or anything.
You sound like a very smart girl. You could stand to show it a lot better if you used proper spelling and grammar, and especially punctuation and capitalization. That's one of the main things people rate when they rate the blogs, so not giving them that excuse from the beginning should give you a lot of reason to get higher ratings.
I suggest writing in MS word or a similar word processor to catch those mistakes for you.

I understand what you are saying. But yeah sometimes I don't remember to use correct grammar, capitalization, punctuation, etc. but I don't have MS Word on this computer or i would definately use that.
thatgirl2089
Nearly all of them have a spell check feature. They don't all highlight the misspelled words, like Word does, but after you finish typing out the blog, you could manually run a spelling and grammar check.
http://www.progressiveu.org/blog/ediblewoman
i guess i should have been more specific..
i don't have any word processing program on my computer at all..
Which sucks.
thatgirl2089
How do you survive without one? Didn't your computer come with one pre-installed (I know mine came with Microsoft Works on it)?
I highly suggest either downloading a free word processing program, or install a plug-in for either Internet Explorer or Firefox (If you have a Mac, I'm sure Safari has something similar, but I don't use it, so I don't know for sure) for some sort of dictionary. It's not as sophisticated as a word processor, but it helps out some.

In that case there are spell check services on the web that you can use for free. I'm linking two of those below.
http://www.spellchecker.net/spellcheck (can check minor grammar and has a thesaurus as well)
