It has occured to me that the idea of fashion is all around us. However, fashion seems to control us. I had just gone shopping recently, looking at the clothes that were discounted compared to the full price clothing. I looked and saw that clothes that were in fashion were over $50. I had even found a tiny tube top like shirt sell for over $120. The cloth was not expensive or valuable. Some a simple black cloth wrapped with two shoulder straps. Nothing more was there.
The day before I went shopping, I had looked over multiple clothing that were in fashion. I looked at it, seeing that they had cost about $100-$800. Things like Timberland boots, spyder jackets, baggy jeans, bags, purses, tops, bottoms, etc. They had all sold for exceptionally high prices. It made me wonder, why teens or anyone would bother staying with the crowd and dressing themselves in about $500 clothing everyday just to make friends, and look good.
It had reminded me of my high school days. Days when every girl in a room would carry the same bag except three and be outcasted because they did not know fashion. Or all the guys wearing converses but six. Or girls wearing the same asian shoe except for four people. Each day, they would care about what they wear, how they look, making sure each little piece of hair was in place. Making sure that each eyelash was curled. Making sure eyeshadow and lipstick were applied.
It drove me to the brink of insanity. I really wonder, do these people really care about their look that much? Why cant they just wear a normal V neck shirt or U neck shirt with a pair of jeans. Heck, the entire outfit would cost less than $100 to put together.
As I write this, I look at my closet, with the abundance of clothes I have in there, all not in fashion or anything special. I estimate how much 10 pairs of jeans cost, eight turtlenecks, 15 long sleeve shirts, 15 tanktops, 30 T-shirts. As I count, I estimated about $1000. I really wonder, if everyone that I knew who loved fashion so much could just find something that suits them, and not stick with the IN crowd.

I know where your coming from, because in highschool i was one of those girls who didnt have the "purse" that everyone else had. And if you look in my closet i didnt spend much on my clothes because at least 50% of them were hand me downs!! But i liked them anyway!
I know what you mean. My average outfit, not including undergarments (my bras are $30, not because I'm into designers, but because I'm "gifted"), costs $20-$30. That includes purse and shoes - I have a few purses that I've made, and my shoes are either gifts, clearance, or thrift store buys.
