ABC Pennsylvania Democratic "debate"

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

I am appalled by the recent display of the media. First ABC hosts a reprehensible debate where questions irrelevant to the current issues of American society and our involvement with issues abroad, were asked. 45 minutes passed until finally a question of substance was asked. Let us address some of these issues that ABC believe to be so much more important than our growing economic issue, home foreclosures, education, affirmative action, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and things of the such, shall we?

What effects will your personal ties with William Ayers, 1960’s radical and former member of the Weather Underground have on your campaign?

Great question George Stephanopoulos; for someone who was nine at the time, I do not believe its fair for Senator Barack Obama to assume responsibly for his neighbors actions. He was nine. He does not exchange political views with this man or deny that Mr. Ayers actions were detestable. It’s disreputable how far people will go to try to make terrorist connections to Senator Obama. There is none, so stop trying.

Senator Obama, why do you not wear a flag pin?

Another amazing question that takes precedent above all. Well, besides the fact that neither of the two moderators are wearing one, neither McCain nor Hillary Rodham Clinton are as well.

The latter are just a few of the platoon of idiotic questions that Mr. Charles Gibson and Mr. George Stephanopoulos find so much more important than our economic, domestic, and crisis abroad are.

Wow, those are really lame questions to ask.

How come this whole election is sounding more and more like high school gossip? First Hillary and Baracks' ongoing childish banter, now stupid questions at a debate? I'd hate to see where it goes from here.

Biggest waste of time ever! I listened to it on NPR the next day. It was like high school girls writing in a slam book (do they still make those, now that we have the Interweb?). But at least Barack called it. Of course, Hillary was all over the place the next day saying that Obama can't handle the tough questions. Tough questions my ass. That is one hour of my life I will never get back.

I wonder how much of that game she's playing is actually getting electoral results. And what kind of Democratic candidate wants results from that game? Shux.

Don't know if you wanted that question answered..

To my knowledge, "slam books" still exist, though I think they're called something different. I remember some time in middle school a girl supposedly got in trouble for having a bunch of people on a list.

And I bet there are "slam books" on Myspace or Facebook or blogs...people can be dorks just about any where.

I think you hit it right on the French button. If you'd like my take from way back on April 17th (http://www.progressiveu.org/223958-there-no-debate-new-angle#comment-258...)

If you feel strongly about ABC and other news organizations providing a service to our democracy by addressing the issues instead of producing INFOtainment and high ratings, you should sign the petition at this website: (http://pol.moveon.org/enoughdistractions/?r_by=12457-8618463-1iWbxO&rc=c...)

Did you see the brief spots that the presidential hopefuls (all 3 at this point still) did for the WWE? Our politicians might be too busy trying to reach out (or is it sell out?) to all of the different societal and cultural groups that are present in America to be expected to answer tough questions about the future of our country....

You're right! Feel strongly about it? Vote for a man who has devoted his life to and been responsive to the public. Nader 2008.

nader takes away votes from respectable candidates for the most important person you will ever 'hire'. you cant possibly vote for nader and tell yourself that what your doing helps the nation in the slightest bit. he will never win, and he's just taking valuble votes away from others. he only runs to get his point of view across, he never runs to actually run.

you want someone who will fix the hell hole that bush got us into? vote OBAMA.
