Iran parliament passes law requiring Jews and Christians to wear yellow and red badges identifying themselves when in public!!!!

According to the Canadian National Post, a law most people thought had been forgotten has been revived "at the behest of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad" and passed by the Iranian parliament.  If it passes the religious judgment process (Ali Khamenehi), Jews will be forced to wear yellow badges when in public in Iran, and Christians will be forced to wear red badges (Zoroastrians will also be forced to wear blue badges).

I've seen a lot of news stories and a lot of posts that compare different world leaders to Adolph Hitler, but this is so amazingly reminiscent of the Nazi regime that I'm almost shocked that news of it has reached the outside world this quickly.  Anyone who is remotely familiar with the Holocaust knows that one of the primary steps leading toward the genocite perpetrated by the 3rd Reich was a law that forced all Jews to wear a yellow star on their clothing to identify themselves for arrest and persecution at the will of the government and of the intolerant citizens.

So... does this prospective Iranian law look and feel familiar?  "Mr. Ahmadinejad has repeatedly described the Holocaust as a myth and earlier this year announced Iran would host a conference to re-examine the history of the Nazis' 'Final Solution.'  He has caused international outrage by publicly calling for Israel to be 'wiped off the map.'"

In Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, we are looking at a world leader who does not believe that the Holocaust exists, but, strangely enough, has done enough research into the "Final Solution" and the Nazi regime that he can begin to imitate their policies.

This is something that the global community needs to answer now, and with one voice.

Sounds like the beginning of the new holocost to me.

He also has said that the Holocaust is a hoax by Jews to get the lan for Isreal. The UN or somebody needs to step in here and stop him.

What it looks like to me is that everybody inpower right now is just plain crazy.

Oh boy, WWIII here we come. Hey maybe it will boost our economy like it did in the 40's.

I'm kidding. War is horrible. And can people stop picking on the Jews please (given other denominations are also discriminated against in this instance). I have had enough of this hatred. What the Iranian president has done is atrocious, but I suppose there is nothing we can do at the moment. Well, until people start getting killed in hate crimes because of the badges.

The U.N. should write him a very stern letter, as usual. That always works.

This story is false.

No law has been passed. People are trying to incite war, be careful in what you believe.

Remember WMDs...mushroom cloud over New York...don't make the same mistake twice.

They have not made such a law? Good, for a minute there, I was worried

It just hasnt passed yet, it has to pass through the Mullahs, the religous leaders who have final say on all laws there.

Well good. No need for that stern letter from the U.N. anymore. I bet Iran is relieved. Those letters are are like bullets to the heart.

That they are - I hear Ahmadinajad's still crying from the last one.

A very bad sign. Maybe the world should stop focusing on Iran's nucluer ambitions and start focusing on their social ambitions. It'll be fifteen years before they have 'the bomb' they could kill millions of people right now.

what. where di you find this

The Associated Press recently released a story claiming that the Canadian National Post story was false.

Summary of the correction

Such a law, were it to actually come into effect, would be unenforceable anyway. The Nazis used physical characteristics to define who a "Jew" was more often than the reality of whether they were actually Jewish or not. It is possible that Iran could do the same, but the law probably has no provisions for that. Especially because although perhaps there are certain physical features shared by many Jews, it would be dificult to come up with features that are "Chrisian" in nature.
