So I just watched this show on CNN about how American's are killing themselves with their diets. One thing I found really interesting was the facts they gave about fast food. It's been scientifically shown that eating too many french fries and other fried products from fast food chains can lead to serious medical problems like depression and suicidal thoughts. Imagine that, one too many french fries could send you over the brink. I always knew that eating too much fast food could make you feel bad but I never knew it could effect your body that much.
Another thing mentioned in the show was about how the governtment in NYC was trying to enforce all fast food chains to show the calories per item on the menu board in the same size print as the price. The companies sued the city and won but the city may be making an appeal. I thought that was amazing that the city could try and force the resturants to openly and largely display the calories per item. But then I thought about it. The calories are openly displayed on the nutrition pannel on every packed product that we buy and are able to consume so why shouldn't the city be able to have the resturant display the calories. My guess is that even if the calories were shown it wouldn't make a difference in sales. If I was to walk into McDonald's knowing I wanted to buy a 1 dollar hot fudge sundae and that was what I was going to buy, seeing the calories woundn't stop me. Subconsciencely I know that there are many other things that are much better for me to be eating, but I still choose the sundae. Still it's the best thing you can buy for a dollar.

That is pretty interesting about the statistics with suicidal thoughts and depression.
I kind of thought about it though, is that possibly just a scapegoat. Maybe I am using the wrong word. But the food probably made these people gain weight, they felt useless, and depressed because of their weight and their bad health so they attempted suicide. And now they are saying "Oh the food caused it." Technically yes, but at the same time...not really.
Do you get what I mean?
Yeah, I understand what your getting at. What your saying does make complete sense, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm never going to be able to look at a french fry the same way again.

It seems as though these things they say everything gives you suicidal thoughts...
... just an observation.
Its amazing what fast food could do. IBut the funnything is, is that you could tell the whole world and it would hardly affect anyone because they love those greasy hamburgers way too much! Hopefully the world will come to some sense and put those fries down. lol
BE BLESSED*
when they got sued for kid's getting fat...we don;t make anyone walk in or drive thru, we don't make you order larger nor do we make you order unhealthily. Like anything, moderation is key...It's obvious.
Agreed... enjoy it in moderation and move on with your life.
Speaking of stupid lawsuits against McDonalds... coffee is hot, and if you spill it on your lap, then it's YOUR damn problem. That was the most ridiculous lawsuit ever.
Everyone wants to get rich quick and juries are picked to be easily swayed and dumber than a brick.
Yeah, but if you walk into a fast food joint, you should KNOW that you're about to eat some heavy poison there. I think there's been enough discussion about fast food in this country that you dont need to have the number of calories spelled out on all the food there to let you know how bad it is for you.
I probably have some homework to do now.
I think that part of the problem is just culture giving people suicidal thoughts. We're so high maintanence and fast paced. Fast food is definitely a part of that culture, and it's a shame, because it is so unhealthy. But I think that saying it leads to suicidal thoughts may be a bit quick to the punch. We all know that eating the right food makes you happier. But for the wrong one to lead to suicide? Not directly.
Mmmmmkkkk...
