Personally, I think that it makes sense that women would have a greater say in what happens in the family/Marriage. It makes sense to me that the woman, who spends most of her time in the household with the kids, would know what is going on and therefore would have a good idea on how to resolve any issue that comes to be. Women’s place is no longer just in the kitchen, women should have a say in the affairs of their families and they should be taken into great account because after all women are the foundation of a good family. The mother is the one who’s spends most time with the kids and teaches them, not that the father has no involvment; it's just that the mother has a greater involvement. After all there is that old proverb that states “Behind every great man there is a great woman" and time and time again we have seen this not only in Hollywood but also in politics, a good example of that is Bill and Hillary Clinton. It’s easy to see why the women not only has a greater say in what goes on in her family but why it should be that way.

A marriage should be a team effort.
End of story.

Agreed. Women don't always spend the most time with the kids. Like you said, the woman's place isn't just in the kitchen anymore. Your argument doesn't really hold its ground for couples without children, either.
