In April of my freshman year myself and 15 other students went to Germany for three weeks in which we were immersed into the culture. This trip changed me in so many ways.
It was the first time I had ever been away from my family for such a long period of time. The length of time made me have to not have that support group that I had always had around me, which was a new challenge for me. Also this trip made me realize how big the world really is and how much I want to see it all. That decision has affected so many decisions for example when I started to pick colleges I only chose colleges with large study abroad programs that had many places to choose from. I learned so much responsibility from this trip like how to take care of myself and how to spend my money wisely and just to be more independent. I have stopped relying on other people as much and doing more things on my own. I try not to spend my money as much (although that does not always happen). The trip to Germany changed me so much

Good for you for seeing the world! I lived overseas for eight months and it was definitely an eye-opener. Just being in and around another culture can really change the way you view your life. Keep on traveling!
