Thanksgiving: a day to give thanks. What can I give thanks for? I know. I can be thankful that I was not in America at the time Columbus sailed the ocean blue. I can be thankful that I wasn’t around 400 years ago, and watched helplessly as my people were slaughtered. I can be thankful that I have never been forced from the only home I ever knew. I can be thankful that I have never lost my entire family to diseases we have never even known existed until a stranger from a far off land pretended to be our friend and then infected us. I can be thankful for never having to fight to survive, or slowly die of famine. I can be thankful that my culture has never been taken away and new beliefs forced on me. I am thankful that I have a home and family, and there is no one plotting on ways to destroy us because they want what is ours. I am thankful that I do not have to deal with fake people smiling in my face pretending to be my friend, and the whole time passing on a disease I would no way be able to survive. I am thankful that can believe whatever I want and not have my culture taken out form under me. This Thanksgiving, I have a lot to be thankful for.
THANKSGIVING: CELEBRATING THE GENOCIDE OF THE NATIVE AMERICANS
By TSewell - Posted on November 10th, 2006

I think this is a little overboard.
"Not another blog on abortion!"
How so??
Thanksgiving came about from a presidential decree from Lincoln telling the country to thank the Lord. We have romanticized it into a holiday about the Native Americans and colonists but that isn't where it is from.
It's just the title
Look, Thanksgiving means a time for me to celebrate another year with my family. To me, its a time for introspection on the challenges I've faced in the pass year and how I came to terms with them. Also to see if that was the most effective method or maybe I should try something different. For me, it's a time of fortification and togetherness that I remember during the trying times of my life. More and more prevalent in college.
I'm glad you're able to look at the day in this light.
I can't. To me, it is somewhat analogous to celebrating Crystal Night.
I wish you well on your quest.
