Black anthem

the black anthem is completely and totally necessary. it keeps black people bonded and together. it encourages them and n e american should be glad to stand while it's being sung. if not then they have a problem. and if ur an american and ur race isn't white then by all means ur race should create its own anthem also. and blacks will be glad to stand to it. like it would be fine to have a japanese american anthem because of what they've been through. or a natve american anthem because of what they've been through. so they should model blacks and do the same. black people are just the first to create its own anthem but it should encourage other ethnic-american groups to do the same. it's not dividing the country, its only encouraging blacks to keep on keepin on. after all it's not like whites have done a lot to help black keep on keepin on.

i can't believe a person would really have the nerve to talk down about something that encourages a race. all blacks are doing by having an anthem is uniting the race because they need to keep coming together. but i'm not gonna get too upset about ppl disagreeing with the anthem because some ppl r crazy and i can't do n e thing about it
now i wish somebody would try and diagree with me

when i say " and ur race isn't white" i din't mean that whites can't have their own anthem i mean that they already have one. srry if someone mis interpreted that.

I think anything that one race apart should be looked at skeptically. If anything, there should be an "everyone" anthym. Let's support unity, not division of races!

theres no division just encouraging races to be encouraged because other races don't seem to encourage blacks so they have to encourage each other themselves

what's the white anthem?

The fact that we designate different anthems for different races encourages racism.

Motion to create a unity anthem anyone? lol

But yes, I know everyone isn't equal. But from your post I think you want harmony amongst races. (correct me if i'm wrong)

I'm white, but I love the black anthem. Whenever I see it sung in a group, I get teary. It is moving when a group of people who has been through so much historically stands together, proud and motivated. You should post a link to the lyrics. I would, but I don't know how to place a link in a comment.

One suggestion, though: Use capital letters and appropriate punctuation and spell out all your words. It makes it easier to read, and it gives you argument more credibility.

i was raised not to see color. i was born into a country where every man is created equally. to me that involves blacks, hispanics, whites, chinese, japanese. everyone. i think coming up with a balck anthem promotes racism, like its saying that balcks and whites still can't live in harmony.

its just like the black and white cookies. by its self neither side is all that great. but when u eat down the middle and get a little of each side, its the best thing since sliced bread.

Have you actually read the lyrics to the song? Nothing about the song suggests that blacks and whites can't live in harmony.

it's okay. I have a black gay friend.

" and if ur an american and ur race isn't white then by all means ur race should create its own anthem also."

Wait, why can't whites have their own anthem?

I picture blacks, Japanese, Chinese, Mexicans, etc, all in their own little groups singing their anthems, and the whites milling about all pissed because they aren't allowed to sing...

I think many people do not even know the words in the anthem. There is nothing in the song that is specific to Black people. it could be about anyone or anything. I don't see what's wrong with a song that talks of the struggles and success of a people. It's not like the lyrics say Black people are better than everyone else.

it's okay. I have a black gay friend.

I really dont see the importance of having an anthem for black people, or for white people, or for any people? I think this post is really funny.
