This might not be very progressive. I don't really know but I wanted to write about my enemy, something that comes around every year and makes me into a Captain Lazy or some other unmotivated character. I hate cold weather. I am serious (-__-)
I'm sick --literally and psychologically fed up-- of cold chilly weather and freezing temperature...I think the best thing would be if my family decided to move somewhere warmer.
BUT I like the east coast --naively, what can I say? I'd much rather stay in my comfort zone. Moving is a daunting thought. If I had to choose, I'd rather live somewhere with mild temperatures and winter weather temperatures of 60s and above.
People say things such as it would be boring or you'd get sick of the warmer weather and same old mild temperatures with no snow or other precipitation....UM...NO, that's not how I feel. I hate waking up, feeling as if I can’t even get out from under my blanket because it's too cold.
I hate bundling up; wearing layers of clothing, a scarf, boots, some gloves or mittens and other little what nots. IT IS TOO MUCH :-(
This brings me to another point, I become quite a bit more tired, lazy, not so motivated to do anything. I drink a couple of cups of tea or coffee to help myself get warmed up to the daily activities because it is not like we humans hibernate during winter unlike some of our animal friends, who do such things as sleep it out, migrate and what not.
At times, because of coming in from cold weather such as after waiting to get on bus or train when its in the 30s-40s outside, I sleep too much and to make up for that, don't sleep at all some days. That does not help me feel good, I feel like I'm on this downhill road of ruining my health. Did I say I also become too lazy to eat; I'd rather just do what I have to do and just sleep without worrying about food.
Ah, the burden of winter weather...I know people think snow is also pretty and so cool, and fun but the shoveling part is NOT so fun. I mean I'd like you to come and experience it if you haven't yet. *__*
What am I trying to say? I guess I need help. I suck at adjusting to cold weather. I'm already tired out after a week and half of cold temperatures and it’s not even really cold. I should say I was born in July in Pakistan where the temperatures are MUCH WARMER and the summer months get as high as 110 degrees Fahrenheit. I need to do something about how unhealthy and lazy I become in winter.
I wonder if anyone else hates the cold. I hate getting the flu or colds; runny noses, congestion, fever are not anyone's friends. I think I'm going to get one pretty soon--seeing as how my sister has one and she usually passes it to everyone. SHEESH, she's got my anger directed at her for bringing the germs in...
Bolded What to do, what not to do, how to cope...I'm shaking my head...and going to get under my blanket to keep warm. Yahyah.

I live in the exact opposite situation
Where I live it hardley ever gets blow 50. Ever. And everyone is convinced that it's actually cold when it gets into te 70s. Our summers always a race to see how fast it gets to 100. So I don't think I would be any better coping with the cold.
I feel the same way you do because I don't like cold weather and I don't know what state you're living in on the east coast, but thank goodness you don't live in Colorado (because they get snow, early like every October), Minnesota, Wisconsin, Montana, North Dakota, Washington, Michigan, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, and Idaho because they probably have really harsh cold weather during the winter months.
Read my blog!
I don't recommend coming to the midwest during winter - it's generally around 20* F on a warm day come January!
of New York and just the east coast in general....BUT that means getting used to cold weather, not too cold as you're saying but it's contniued low temperatures that make me hate winter.... I like hot weather, as I said, born in july-- in pakistan where the summer months are longer and temperatures are usually in 110 Farenheit range

I prefer the cold weather when it comes to me gradually... I get bad migraines a lot more throughout the summer so winter is usually a huge relief. This year though, it's been a pain in the ass! I wasn't ready for it and it threw me all off.
Find something to do in the middle of winter that you can really really look forward too... it makes it suck less

We get our share of bitter cold here and I'm not too fond of it although it has a positive cleansing effect. They say that the average displaced Californian only lasts 18 months in Wyoming before moving on. They typically bail out just before facing that second winter. That keeps them from infecting us with the liberal ideas that are wrecking California and which caused them to leave in the first place.
We probably get more sunny beautiful days then in a lot of other cold places even if if is -20 below zero. Sunshine does a lot to combat the winter blues that you are describing. But you have to force yourself to go out in the bitter cold. On slightly nicer days, I often go golfing which is kind of random but fun. Golf ball shatter! We have an extensive set of "winter rules".
I'm not sure where you come down on the Global Warming Debate. I'm convinced that the earth is warming but I'm far from convinced of the notion that it is human caused. I think it has more to do with variations in the energy eminating from the Sun.
But in any case, regardless of the cause, we have had a series of mild winters here over the last decade and it HAS BEEN GREAT! For the global warming alarmists, I have to wonder what makes them think that the temperatures that we had before global warming were ideal? Every year, more people die from exposure to cold than exposure to heat. People in cold climates are also more likely to commit suicide. And generally warm areas are more productive biologically then cold ones. From my perspective there was and is lots of room for improvement in the climate and by that I mean warmer would be better. If global warming is human caused then I hope humans keep right on doing what they are doing because another 5 degrees would be fantastic!
I guess I live in the right area, because I love the cold! I live in Cleveland (Ohio) and let me tell you, it really snows! Nothing beats taking a short walk in the snow, of course, I still build snowmen and have snowball fights. . . . with the neighbor kids. . . . or my grandma.
Come to Potsdam... We average around -10 in January and it's not unusual to hit -30 on multiple days. You think I am kidding; but I am not. It is too cold to snow here. Your eyes freeze walking between buildings walking to class. Yep; my favorite thing is my cranberry coloured matching hat-gloves-and-scarf set.
You cannot complain about the cold until you have lived and/or gone to school in Potsdam or north of Potsdam in the winter months. I respect you, people of Canada, if only for managing to survive Winter after freezing winter of living in a place where it is a necessity to keep the gas tank 1/2 full to prevent freezing the lines.
Good luck acclimating, asmaw... it only goes gets easier every year.
I love the winter because I collect hoodies and I love the summer because I collect clothes and the fall is sooo beautiful because the leaves change colors and spring is exciting because summer is right around the corner. I love the winter because I snowboard alot! Perhaps every weekend I am out there. Summer is great because I am always leaving to Huntington Beach, California to swim and experience the beautiful sand and ocean. Oh man I am so happy to live in New Mexico because I have access to the best things in all seasons
I miss the beach

I use to have a hard time adjusting too when I moved here from california. I learned to like it fast though when the 110 degree weather of the summer came around. As for easier ways to adjust and get use to it try going out and playing football in the cold... lots of clothes and snow means lots of less brusies. and you sure stay warm[Miss Senda]
