Minority Report-- Hillary Vs. Barack

Since American history began, we have always tried to keep the idea that all men are created equal. People interpret the Constitution either too strictly or too loosely. What I fully believe is that though the Constitution may be written all men are created equal, it really means that all people should be created equal; this makes me a loose interpreter of the Constitution. In the subject matter of Hillary Rodman-Clinton and Barack Obama running for Presidency it is my opinion to say, “It is about time!”

Hillary Rodman-Clinton is in Senate for New York. It’s common these days for a woman to reach Senate, though to run for Presidency is quite unheard of, or is it? Isn’t it true that ever since the Woman’s Right’s Movement back in 1900 people started opening their minds to the idea that maybe a woman could one day be in the Oval Office? I figure maybe because we have always said we should or shouldn’t have a female president that, in fact, all this attention has now been focused on, well why not? Instead of saying, “well if we have a female president then…” we are now able to debate what is really going on, which is, “if Hillary’s president then…” Also, seeing as how ‘blacks’ are the minority, Barack Obama is a black male who is currently senator of Illinois and is running for a seat in the Oval Office as well. It is also an ‘unheard of’ but not ‘undreamed of’ situation.

The very sad truth is that though both Hilary and Barack are both minorities, anything is better than what we have now. Not saying Bush is a bad president, but eight years of one man can suddenly make you ready for change. By change we all thought we just meant another white guy making promises, but suddenly we have received the full deal, which is, a woman and a black man ready to be named president.

So where would the votes lie? Would it be fair to say that I’m a women therefore Hillary can represent me best? Or would I say, “I have been called different because I’m much too tall for my age; I know what being a minority feels like,” and therefore vote for Barack? For me, I think, that everyone should hush up that she’s a women and he’s black because if Africa, who supposedly we are far more economized then, can have a female president of Liberia (Ellen Johnson Sirleaf) who also happens to be black, then America needs to get with the times. It’s acceptation of equality, not the race or gender that saves us from war. When we pull together and realize that the next big news isn’t that she’s a women and he’s black but that he wants to give us freedom from war and she wants to agree to the Kyoto protocol, then we’ll win regardless of who is in office. In conclusion, my vote lies within the motives of the better candidate.

I wouldn't vote for either of them. I don't like Hillary. I don't like her mixed message with the war, I don't like her healthcare plan (I just don't think it will work) and I don't like that she says she will carry on the policy of not speaking to our enemies. As for Obama, all I know is that he is anti-war, but hasn't voted against funding it and that he is willing to talk to our opponents. I perfer Obama to Hillary, but I'm not a fan of either of them.
