Here's something interesting that came up today.
My senior prom is coming up on May 10th. Kind of exciting. Since I'm so desperate for scholarships, I was gonna look into making a duct tape dress and tux for me and my date.
Anywho, I was shopping for dresses since I haven't fully decided on a duct tape gown yet. I showed some to a friend I call "g0at."
Well, he told me I was too colorful. That men didn't like so much color and more simple darker colored dressed were more appropriate.
How if he was going with me, he just simply wouldn't take me were I going to wear something so boldly colorful as the dresses I was looking at.
If I were his date, he said, he most certainly would need to approve of what I was wearing or we just wouldn't go.
While I think it's important what your date thinks about your prom attire, I hardly think it fair to say "You'll wear what I say you're going to wear."
It's pig-headed and ridiculous.
Especially when he's out of high school already and IF he were my date, it wouldn't even be HIS prom!
Not that this part of this whole spiel matters.
What I mean is, do you think it's fair for guys to tell their prom dates what they're going to wear for prom? Prom is a big deal for most high school females. It's all about finding the perfect date and perfect dress.
Is it fair for guys to try and stop their dates from wearing a gown they had their hearts set on?
I mean, personally, I'm going through dresses with my date so he can give me opinions. I want to be attractive for him, at least. Luckily he agrees with my taste in color.
But g0at saying "You'd wear whatever you wanted as long as I approved it first," really got to me.
Do you think there are a lot of men out there like this?
I'm just curious.
It reminded me a lot of "Get in the kitchen and make me my sandwich." "Don't speak unless I say you can, girl!"
You know what I mean?

Bright crazy colors are so much fun!
Then again, I showed up to my prom in a bright purple paisley vest and bow-tie ;-)

I've never heard of a guy caring so much about (or even noticing) what their date wears. I know I wouldn't. I always thought it was more of a problem of girls trying to control their date's attire. I agree with you as far as prom usually being a big thing for girls, but that doesn't mean that there aren't guys out there who care about it too, I guess.
This is what you do, tell him you're going to wear a black dress.
Then buy the most colorful gown, and wear it.
Game?

No, he should not have a say in what you wear!!!! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!! I mean at that rate, if you were his date, then you should pick out everything for him too!!!! The dress is such a big part of the prom and I think you should go COLORFULLY BOLD!!!! ;) U only get one senior prom....go for it
Haha! g0at's not my date anyway so I don't know what he was going on complaining about. Mark doesn't care what I wear. In fact, we're designing our own clothes and going for the duct tape scholarship. So wish me luck!
