Should Kerry apologize for his comments?

Should Kerry be made to apologize to U.S. Troops after bashing them? I think so, and I'm happy that President Bush is standing up for the troops. I mean I think that it was completely rude and disrespectful for Kerry to tell college students that they should stay in school or "get stuck in Iraq", implying that our soldiers are stupid and uneducated. I think that he should apologize because they're over there fighting for our freedom. In a statement, Kerry said that it was a "botched joke" aimed at the president, not the troops. Either way, he offened them and should be made to apologize. Overall, I think that the troops need our support and Kerry bashing them and calling them uneducated is wrong, and should have to apologize, don't you?

My dad spent 20 years in the military and I can guarantee is is educated, as is the large majority of those in the military. People who join the military do so, not because they are uneducated, but because they love our country and want to serve and protect it.
Shame on Kerry.... he should know better than anyone else that words are powerful and statements should be thought out before delivering them in public.

John Kerry was not necessarily bashing the army. But if you're a young man like that, and you feel that you have no future, and you're not going to college, where do you think you will turn? The armed forces, that is where. I do not support the troops being in Iraq, I think that it is EXTREMELY unnecessary for so many people to die over there. And my sister is married to someone who was deployed to Iraq, and I have spokenw ith him and some of his friends, and they hate being there. They think it's a waste of time. But they feel OBLIGATED to be there, there is a difference. It's too bad when you think about it. I wish more people would realize that many of these soldiers are not thinking about freedom when they are over there. They are thinking about their best friend who just got blown up in a car merely going down the street where an Iraqi had either planted the bomb, or shot it. Yeah. Think about that.

I understand that its sad that our soldiers die everyday because of Iraqis but, isnt it better that they be over there, and not here? I mean if we were to leave Iraq, you really think that the terrorist would just leave us alone? I dont think so, they would find a way to get in America and blow up cars here. Then even more innocent civilians and Americans would die. I think that we should support the soliders regardless if we think the war in Iraq is pointless or stupid. Its the fact that he was insulting our brave and couragous men and women that are over there fighting for us.

Well, I think Kerry just kind of bombed his chances for being elected to the presidency. Of course, it may just give him a boost. One thing certain in politics is that you never know, I guess. Just because I tend to be negative most of the time, I have a notion to believe that Kerry was not aiming his comment toward Bush. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. Nobody has any way of knowing for sure. Yet, I do have a problem with this: Why do politicians always have to attack the characters of other possible candidates running in opposing political parties? I'm with George Washington - political parties are bad. So much bashing goes on with people in this "sport" as my government teacher puts it. I wouldn't vote for Kerry just because he feels the need to patronize and poke fun at Bush. It shows an extreme lack of self-confidence. I believe Kerry should give an apology to Bush. I also believe that Kerry should apologize to reconcile any hurt he may have caused with anyone affiliated with the millitary. I think it takes more character to apologize. I would be quite impressed if Kerry did.

I dont' know if kerry should apologize for what he said. Are the troops the ones demanding for an apology or is it bush administration? I do believe the troops are brave for risking their lives, but i wouldn't go as far as to say they are fighting for America's freedom. Our freedoms can only be fought for at home. America's freedom have nothing to do with Irag. We will have the same freedoms rather the troops were there or not. but back to the issue. kerry should not be forced to apologies to bush, but if the troops desire an "I'm sorry," they should recieve one. kerry admits he made a mistake, without saying the words, but i realist what he was trying to say, & as the daughter, who mother, aunt, grandfathers, and cousins have served time in the armed forces, I hold no hard feelings.

I originally didn't want Kerry to apologise; however, then the news started trickling in that the troops were affronted by his comment. In that case, his decision to apologise was the right one. If, however, they had not been offended, heck no he shouldn't have apologised. He should have continued to tell Bush and Co where to stick it because they knew full well how he meant the comment and they were just trying to stir up pre-election BS. But yeah, if the troops were offended (as some obviously were) he did the right thing in apologising (but he should still continue to tell Bush and Co where to stick it).
