A couple years back a friend told me that there is no such thing as "good and bad"... I never quite found the logic or sense in this, but because it was so confusing and unconventional, i immediately took it to heart for serious consideration... This is my general reflection on the subject now:
I think there is a difference doing what is logical and doing what is natural. sometimes they are the same, but only because of coincidence. What i mean is that our mind is filled with ideas and thoughts that are made before the time of decision. So when we make the decision we are really making a prediction and hoping that our decision, which is based on our prejudgments, is right.
Sometimes people get too preoccupied with thinking about what they are doing and what the effect of their action will be, and they forget themselves. For instance, many times people make a decision not to try something because they think that they might fail. But we never know what will happen next, human beings don't know the future. So why do we make a decision based off of what we think the future will be, instead of just trying our best on every occasion.
It seems more natural to me to always try to achieve your best and risk failure, than to not try at all because we think that we will fail. Instead, a person should listen to their feelings. I believe that the heart is honest, because the heart is emotions. The mind can trick you because it has thoughts. If someone uses their mind to listen to their hearts, then they can think and act honestly.
Emotions are not good or bad. If you feel sad or angry, that is not a bad emotion. All emotions are important for growing. So we can't say that we shouldn't feel a certain emotion. They are all necessary. Listening to your heart is to escape the good and bad.. etc. There is no reason for you to think you are a bad person if you are angry at someone else. That angry feeling is important for you to learn something about yourself and your relationship with that person. It is needed for you to grow in all ways and not just one single way. Happiness, Jealousy, Anger, Love, Joy, Sadness... They all help us grow in their own unique way. Not every emotion feels good, but there is no emotion that is wrong to have. If we accept everything as it is without judging good or bad, we can use everything to help us grow and learn. No matter how they affect us, they are here to teach us something and to add something very specific to our lives.
everything is good.

I think this is great advise. Fear of failing kept me out of seeking a career in nursing for too long of a time, and now I'm trying really hard to get into the game. I'm continuing my education now just so I can catch up, I guess, with everyone else. Employers are a little bit more willing to hire a new grad, than they are to hire someone who graduated a while ago and hasn't been using the degree since.
On emotions, you're right. Emotions are not bad to have and everyone should experience them. However, it is important that people learn to handle those emotions constructively, and seek help if they can't control emotions like anger or sadness.
