Every decade seems to have it's own set of words that underlines what happened in it. In the 50s/60s, one of those words by most asked would probably be "civil rights" or "personal freedoms."
What do you think are some words to describe (so far) our decade? I could think of the below:
"Occupation" "Conflict" "Suburbanism" "Educationalism" "Informational" "Commercialist" "Ignorance" "Fear" and "Militarism."

Technology overload would be a good one. there are so many issues taking place that its hard to pinpoint just a few into words
Yeah that is a good one.
Let's not forget "terrorism"
I'll second that.
"politically correct"
thanks for commenting on my blog. living in the bible belt can be a culture shock. i'm sure if you protested about atheism...wow that would be very interesting. i would definitely want to see that.
where did you come up with these words theya re right on
I think a good word is cynicism. The culture of America is very cynical nowadays. Everyone everywhere always seems to find something wrong with anything good that happens. It's horrible that its come to that but from the different conversations I've had with different people, the one thing that seems to permeate through all of them is a cynical attitude towards every aspect of American life.

That's pretty negative, LudaChris. A cynical attitude, I think, promotes a better society.
Think of it this way: If we were all cheery and saw what was good and ignoring the bad, and assumed everything that claimed to be good was 100% good, would that be better? We could probably agree that it is not so.
I am a cynic, and quite happy to be one. As a cynic, you look at issues from each perspective, and find who's the one making the profit. Very few people in this world do something without expecting something in return, in a long period of time or a short period of time. That's just hte way things are. Beinga cynic is taking off the rose-colored glasses and recognizing it.

If a society is willing to give freedom for temporary security, they deserve neither.
