Why do we cuss? Why can we hear a cuss word in school or the mall and not think anything of it? When really the sentence doesn't make much sense or sound pleasent? It makes no sence to me how some of the most vulgar words have slipped there way into our vocabulary. Im not being simple minded and im not sheltered in any means but i just think its stupid that we use such vulgar words to drecribe things. Like today my boyfriend showed me this video on his phone defining and talking about only the "f" word. Why would anyone think that it's appropiate to say that word? Try to change my mind give me a situation that it would be completly approiate to say that word, a time when you cant use another word in it's place. Thanks for reading!

theyre only vulgar because society says they are.
it may not make sense to you, but they are words of exression.
it may not make sense to other people why you DON'T use them...but that doesnt mean you should have to start using them now.
people should feel free to speak how they choose.
i do agree with you. Words are simply words and its people who give them meaning.
Also, if a person stubs his or her toe, it is better to release their anger in the form of a curse word instead of punching a wall or doing something harmful.
However, there is one thing that bothers me about cursing. I hate when little kids curse non stop so as to seem cool. It bothers me.
i have two younger siblings that just started hanging out with some older kids....and i hate it.
of course it doesnt help when adult use the words and say its okay for adults to use them but not kids....i mean it puts this sense of it being cool around it already (the whole wanting to be older thing)
Curse words do not start out as curse words. They become curse words when people in a certain society start to use them that way. Pretty much every curse word has another meaning that is not "vulgar."
Denken. Nicht lesen.
...why do you care? It's just words. O.o
i care because i work with kids everyday in a day care and i hear the words they pick up from there older siblings and the other people they are around and i think that it's horrible.
Why is it so horrible?
And then the problem is swearing around little kids. I don't swear around little kids or my parents. I see no problem swearing around my friends.
really whats the point? what do you get out of saying those words?
i dont really think its "getting: anything out of it....its imply that with their friends they say them, because their friends acceot them as just words and so in turn they can be more open with their speech with their friends and be more accepted.
you should be able to say whatever you want to say.
(but his may not have anything to do with why they say them in the first place....hehe just thought id add that in)
"Im not being simple minded and im not sheltered in any means but i just think its stupid that we use such vulgar words to drecribe things."
Curse words, for the most part, are just words we use in place of other words. Society has labeled some of these words as...BAD!
But don't you use the word "Stupid" here in place of another more pleasant word, like say "Unintelligent"?
Isn't that the same as me saying "That person is a dumbass." I could have said that the person was moronic, an idiot, stupid, dense, light-headed, a dunce, etc etc...they all mean the same thing. But "dumbass" is frowned on by society...
I think that there's something a lot worse than Curse words...and that's abominable grammar, punctuation, and spelling...But for some reason society doesn't really agree with me on that. ::Shrugs:: Fuck society...I don't like it anyways. WHOOPS!

When I was little, I would say some of those curse words and I got in trouble by my mother; therefore, she put Tabasco sauce on my tongue and wouldn't let me drink or eat anything to get rid of the taste for a while. By the way, that sauce tasted bad; so, that's how I stopped saying those words when I was little.

Just let it be. Cussing has spread around too much for anyone to try to prevent it now -- kinda like smoking. Most of people who seldom use it only bring it up when they're trying to relieve stress or when they're really angered with something or someone. Others....I would say they just want to follow the trend, since cussing in everday speech seems to be a normal thing to do nowadays. It does get quite annoying though....I seem to cringe everytime people cuss when it's unnecessary, but what can we do. *sigh/shrug/shakes head*
As far as cursing, they are just words, but I think that using them consistently can cause others to judge you as less educated than those who do not curse on a regular basis. I was always taught that first impressions are everything and it really shows more class if you are able to "watch your mouth" in certain situations, like job interviews or even meeting anyone on a professional level. Also, it may even demonstrate more intelligence at being able to come up with a larger variety of synonyms rather than using the same cuss words over and over.
Don't take this comment as any kind of reflection on me, I am a terrible potty mouth, but in certain situations I do believe that language needs to be tailored to fit the occasion.
