Failure is not an option

How many times have you heard people say failure is not an option or i can't fail. Well as a high school student i hear it almost daily when it comes to tests, grades, and especially athletics.
Just recently I was in a basketball tournament our season came down to one game if we won the game we would move on in the tournament if we lost our season was done. we were plying a team that had beat us once and we had beat once so it was going to be a good game. we were evenly matched and both teams brought their best game. there was no way to tell who would win this game before it began or even at half time for that matter it came down to the final minutes the final seconds. some would say the team that wanted it more won, but i wouldn't say that. we ended up losing the game by a heartbreaking 2 points 1 shot could have tied or won the game but it didn't go that way.
When it comes to failure i look to great examples such as Micheal Jordon who was called upon to take the game winning shot numerous times and missed. i guess when people say failure is not an option in a way its not because the only way you can "fail" at something is when you stop trying. if Micheal Jordon would have stopped after the first shot he missed he never would have been the legendary player he ended up being. he was one of the nba's greatest players of all times and he made mistakes me messed up in games but he kept pushing through he didn't dwell on it when he had an off game he let it motivate to get better. so to those people who say to themselves failure is not an option as long as you keep trying you will find success.

I dropped out of high school. "Failure" certainly is an option, and not always such a bad one.

you can't always see life in what ifs
